New Destiny 2 Feature: Event Home Streamlines Rewards and Info

Summary

  • Bungie introduces the Event Home feature for Destiny 2 to streamline event info and rewards.
  • A new Crucible game mode, Heavy Metal, will launch alongside this update.
  • More sandbox changes and events are planned to keep players engaged until Codename Frontiers.

Bungie unveils the Event Home feature for Destiny 2, scheduled to launch together with a major gameplay update including a fresh Crucible mode titled Heavy Metal. Despite the Episode Heresy storyline wrapping up, Bungie continues to plan engaging content to keep Destiny 2 enthusiasts occupied until the anticipated Codename Frontiers expansion arrives this summer.

As the current storyline for Destiny 2 winds down and Bungie isn’t quite ready to unveil its future updates yet, they are planning to keep players engaged with fresh content and adventures during the next couple of weeks. One of these additions is a new game mode titled Rite of the Nine, which rearranges dungeon content for an altered player experience and rewards. Unfortunately, this activity was accidentally released prematurely in Destiny 2 in a very rough state along with incomplete weapons. Recently, Bungie announced their first set of changes to the game mechanics that will be implemented over the coming months in a new blog post.

In the upcoming sandbox update, Bungie aims to simplify and consolidate Destiny 2 Events for players, making it easier not only to locate them but also to manage everything on a single page. This new feature effectively replaces the previous Destiny 2 feature called Event Cards, which were typically seen alongside major events like Festival of the Lost, Solstice, or Guardian Games. To mark the introduction of Heavy Metal in the Crucible, Bungie is introducing Event Home for the first time.

Destiny 2 Event Home Details

In the new game mode for Destiny 2, Heavy Metal Crucible, all event details are conveniently gathered at Event Home. Here you’ll find a brief event summary, the Event Rank and its corresponding 15-tier reward track, daily challenges that can be accomplished quickly or over shorter gaming sessions, and weekly challenges requiring multiple playthroughs. Bungie suggests that daily challenges can be finished in brief gaming spells, whereas weekly ones may necessitate several gameplay sessions. Additionally, players will earn Event Tokens, which they can use to shop for weapons, materials, and a Reroll Chip within the game. This chip enables players to modify one of their daily challenges if desired.

In their final announcement, Bungie hints at further updates for Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, suggesting that the Event Home is one of numerous adjustments planned to transform and develop the game over the next few years. Excited fans won’t have to wait much longer for more details, as Bungie has confirmed a special Destiny 2 Edge of Fate livestream on May 6.
