New Dragon Ball Game Might Have Revealed Its Title by Accident

Bandai Namco Entertainment recently announced that the next Dragon Ball game, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, is scheduled for release in 2027. This news comes as the Dragon Ball franchise prepares for new anime series in 2026, and suggests exciting developments are also planned for its video games. Fans speculated that the Xenoverse series might return after the announcement of Project Age 1000, and this new game seems to confirm those theories.

During a January 2026 event, Dragon Ball announced Project Age 1000, a video game that’s been in development for six to seven years. A brief trailer showed a brand-new protagonist with white hair, wearing Capsule Corp. clothing, and the ability to transform into a Super Saiyan. Bandai Namco stated that the character was designed by Akira Toriyama himself. The trailer also hinted at the inclusion of Goku and Vegeta. While Project Age 1000 is planned for release in 2027, there haven’t been any updates since the initial announcement. However, Bandai Namco Entertainment may have recently revealed the game’s official title by accident.

Dragon Ball: Project Age 1000 Revealed to Be Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3

A fan on Twitter, Wario64, noticed that Bandai Namco Entertainment Southeast Asia briefly created a YouTube playlist called “DRAGON BALL Xenoverse 3” and included the Project Age 1000 teaser trailer. Although the playlist has been removed, fans quickly saw it. This seems to confirm what many players suspected: Project Age 1000 is actually the next Dragon Ball Xenoverse game. The Xenoverse series is very popular within the Dragon Ball fighting game community, and while the second game has received updates, fans have been eager for a completely new installment.

A playlist for Bandai Namco’s upcoming Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 briefly appeared online before it was intended to be shown. The developer has confirmed that more information about Project Age 1000 will be revealed on April 19th and 20th during the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026, and players can watch the event to see if Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is officially announced. Some fans speculate that Project Age 1000, which includes input from Akira Toriyama, might be a continuation of his ideas for Dragon Ball Online – a story set in the year 1000 that explores what happens to characters like Goku and Vegeta.

Ever since the first trailer for Project Age 1000 was released, fans have pointed out that the new, unnamed Super Saiyan in Dragon Ball looks similar to Broly and Cheelai – especially sharing Cheelai’s hair color. This has led to speculation that this character might be Broly’s grandchild, which could explain how he’s able to transform into a Super Saiyan. Fans will recall that Broly and Cheelai had a strong relationship in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, and many believe the next game, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, could build on that storyline.

Despite being released nearly a decade ago, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is still getting updates, with new content added as recently as October 2025, and continues to have a dedicated community of players. With rumors circulating about Project Age 1000, now might be the perfect time for Bandai Namco to announce Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3. It will be exciting to see how the new game handles the story from the previous one, and whether it will tie into Future Trunks’ adventure in Age 1000 from Dragon Ball Online (DBO).
