Okay, so things are getting pretty crazy in Tarkov right now. A bunch of popular streamers and content creators are saying their accounts are getting messed with – like, completely wiped or changed without them doing anything. People are calling it a vulnerability, and it seems like someone’s finding a way to hack in and mess with our stuff. It’s super frustrating because you put so much time and effort into building up your hideout and inventory, and now it could all just vanish!
Battlestate Games knows about the problem and is trying to fix it, but they haven’t made a public announcement yet.
Has Your Tarkov Account Been Wiped?
I started seeing posts about this Tarkov account wipe issue pop up all over social media just hours ago. It’s been really crazy! What’s even wilder is that some big streamers were actually losing their accounts while they were streaming – live on air! I even saw DrLupo get hit by it, which was pretty shocking.
Nikita Buyanov, the studio head at Battlestate Games, left a comment on one of the investigative reports stating:

Here’s what the players are figuring out about the issue from what they’ve learned:
- There’s a vulnerability ‘somewhere’ that malicious operators are leaning on to access and reset accounts of other players, most notably prolific players.
- Whoever is doing this is able to bypass two-factor authentication, as accounts that have the security layers in place are reporting this problem occurring.
- It was thought this issue was related to Escape from Tarkov: Arena, but that most likely isn’t the case.
I lost all my progress in Escape From Tarkov! I was playing the Arena mode, then switched to the main game, and my entire profile was reset. This is a serious issue, @bstategames, and needs to be fixed with a rollback for affected players immediately. It’s unbelievable! (@JakeSucky @Dexerto)

We’ve reached out to Battlestate Games for confirmation on what’s happening.
As a long-time player, I was really upset to hear about the problems in August 2024. There was a technical glitch that unfortunately wiped out player profiles – they said ‘tens of thousands’ were affected! And the worst part is, the data loss was permanent. It was a huge blow to a lot of us who had put a lot of time and effort into our accounts.
A player shared their frustration online, explaining that all their progress in the game was reset at a crucial moment.
Someone unexpectedly accessed my Escape from Tarkov account and completely reset my progress to level 0. They also changed my profile picture. I have two-factor authentication enabled on the account, and this has never happened to me before. I was close to reaching prestige level 5, having reached level 53, and had all my gear…

This problem appeared during a long-running promotion on Twitch where players were receiving lots of in-game rewards, making the situation even more frustrating.
