As a longtime gamer and avid fan of the NBA Street series, I’m absolutely thrilled about Play by Play Studios’ announcement of The Run: Got Next. I remember spending countless hours playing NBA Street on my Xbox back in the day, perfecting my trick moves and dominating opponents with my customized squads. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a game that captured the essence of streetball like NBA Street did, and The Run: Got Next seems poised to fill that void.

I’m thrilled about the latest announcement from Play by Play Studios, a new video game developer led by gaming veterans. They’ve just revealed “The Run: Got Next,” a PvP basketball game that’s being hailed as the successor to the iconic NBA Street series. Back in 2001, Electronic Arts released the original NBA Street game. In my opinion, The Run is set to bring back the fun and excitement of that beloved franchise.

As a dedicated gamer who’s spent countless hours on both the NBA Live and NBA 2K franchises, I can tell you that those games aimed to replicate the professional basketball experience with a strong emphasis on realism. But when it came to streetball, nothing beat the arcade-style thrill of NBA Street. These games put the focus on flashy moves and animations, creating an entirely different vibe from their more grounded counterparts.

Title “The Run: Got Next” is soon to be released as a new 3v3 basketball game featuring quick-moving action and an intuitive learning curve, developed by Play by Play Studios. Founded by industry veterans including CEO Scott Probst, formerly of Visceral Games, Michael Young, a fellow EA colleague who contributed to the creation of “NBA Street,” and Terry Smith, the art director for the 2005 hit game “God of War.”

Elements reminiscent of the iconic “NBA Street” series like signature slam dunks will feature in “The Run: Got Next.” Play by Play Studios promises a distinct style and substance while staying true to streetball’s essence.

Play by Play Studios was established in 2021; however, it didn’t make its public debut until the unveiling of “The Run: Got Next” in the same year. According to the studio’s announcement, their goal is to develop enjoyable sports games featuring uniquely designed characters and immersive environments that foster connection among players.
