Following numerous years of fans clamoring for a sequel to the popular 2006 action-adventure game “Bully”, developers Refugium Games have finally responded with a spiritual successor titled “Agefield High: Rock the School“. Expected to launch exclusively on PC via Steam in early 2026, “Agefield High: Rock the School” continues the storyline where players assume the role of an ambitious student, determined to go to any length to ascend the social hierarchy.
Initially, Rockstar’s game titled Bully received positive feedback upon its debut but stirred up controversy due to content perceived as unsuitable for its teenage audience. Despite facing censorship and bans in certain nations, the game has gained a devoted fanbase who are disappointed by the cancellation of a sequel. Now, Refugium Games has given us a sneak peek at their upcoming project, which draws inspiration from Bully, aims to recreate the fun of student life from the early 2000s, and seeks to satisfy the nostalgic cravings of fans.
Agefield High: Shake Up the School
The game, Agefield High: Shake Up the School, will take players into the lively town of Agefield. Here, players will assist protagonist Sam in making the most out of his final three months at high school by challenging the administration and winning over his crush. The game offers an open-world environment where you can guide Sam to one of his five classes or skip them for some local exploration, visiting neighborhoods, the town center, and even the countryside.
However, a strict school attendance policy will have consequences for students who frequently miss class, so players must find a balance between attending English and geography pop quizzes and getting into altercations in Agefield’s back alleys. The gameplay mechanics are similar to those found in games like Grand Theft Auto and the original Bully, encouraging players to carve out their own reputation through any means possible.
Agefield High: Rock the School Official Reveal Trailer
In “Agefield High: Rock the School”, Sam has the freedom to personalize his look using an array of modern outfits, trendy hairstyles, eye-catching tattoos, and more. He can accomplish this by utilizing in-game currency earned from various side missions. Additionally, he can enhance his bike for smoother navigation through the game’s small open world map. However, players must be cautious to steer clear of encounters with the local law enforcement who are intent on returning any truant students to school. This game, inspired by early 2000s fashion and humor similar to that found in early PS2 games, offers two different endings to uncover. As of now, you can add “Agefield High: Rock the School” to your wishlist on Steam.
Many video games over the years have been successful spiritual successors, like 2024’s Astro Bot which pays tribute to classic 3D platformers and brings back a flood of nostalgia for fans. It is yet to be determined if Agefield High: Rock the School will receive a similar warm reception as it reimagines the experience of a Bully-like game, but there’s hope that the trend of retro-inspired titles will persist in introducing classic games to new players.
