Okay, so Pokemon GO is kicking off 2026 with a bunch of cool stuff! They’re adding a new Pokemon from the ninth generation – Glimmet! I’ve already seen some new additions this month, including different versions of Pokemon that are shiny. Just recently, they had an event called ‘Pinch Perfect’ where we got to catch Klawf, another Gen 9 Pokemon. And coming up, the ‘Precious Pals’ event will finally let us find a shiny Fidough! It feels like Scopely is really focusing on the newest generation of Pokemon right now, which is awesome.
Over the past few months, Pokemon GO has consistently added Pokemon originally appearing in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, with creatures like Nacli and Tarountula being introduced. Leaks have also hinted that more Pokemon from those games – including Ogerpon, Terapagos, and Pecharunt – are already hidden within Pokemon GO‘s data. Now, the game is preparing to launch another new Pokemon from the ninth generation of the franchise.
Pokemon GO Adding Glimmet in New Event

- 7 km Eggs: Diglett, Larvitar, Bagon, Deino, Yungoos
- Paid Time Research: $1.99 USD, 2 Incubators, Encounters with Diglett, Yungoos, and Glimmet, and more
- 3x XP
- 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance
The popular mobile game Pokemon GO has announced a new event called ‘Into the Depths.’ The event will introduce the Pokemon Glimmet, though a shiny version won’t be available. Players can expect to see more of certain Pokemon appearing in the wild, including Diglett, Dunsparce, Meditite, and Yungoos. Special 7 km Eggs will also be available, giving players a chance to hatch rare Pokemon like Larvitar, Bagon, and Deino. ‘Into the Depths’ starts on January 27th at 10:00 AM local time and runs until February 1st at 8:00 PM.
The latest Pokemon GO event offers more than just new Pokemon! Players will earn triple experience points for completing Routes, and eggs will hatch at half the usual distance. Shiny versions of Diglett and Yungoos will be more common during the event. Plus, a special Timed Research quest will be available, rewarding players with two Incubators and chances to encounter Diglett, Yungoos, and Glimmet.

Recent leaks have revealed that Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix will be featured in next month’s Community Day event.
