Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat is a complete remake of the 2022 game and the newest entry in the Gungrave series. While the original Gungrave G.O.R.E received negative reviews, this remake hopes to improve the franchise’s image and offer a revitalized experience.
Despite having sequels and even an anime series, the original *Gungrave* is often overlooked as one of the great third-person shooters on the PlayStation 2. Later games, including *Gungrave G.O.R.E*, didn’t live up to expectations and weren’t well-received by fans.
Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat Is a Redemption-Seeking Remake of the 2022 Game
During Xbox’s presentation at the 2025 Tokyo Game Show, Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat was revealed as a complete remake of the original game. Currently, a release date hasn’t been announced, but it’s planned for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. This new version boasts significantly improved graphics thanks to Unreal Engine 5, and developer Studio IGGYMOB promises a complete overhaul of the gameplay, resulting in smoother, more stylish combat. Blood Heat will also feature brand-new characters never before seen in any Gungrave game.

Fans of the main character in the *Gungrave* series will be happy to hear he’s received a makeover. The updated design for this cool gunslinger comes from Yasuhiro Nightow, the famous manga artist known for *Trigun*. Nightow also designed the character Brandon Heat for the anime version. *Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat* doesn’t just look better – it also features new ways to interact with the environment. The game aims to stand alongside today’s popular third-person shooters, offering improved controls and faster, more satisfying combat.
It’s still uncertain if the new version will fix the biggest problems with *Gungrave G.O.R.E*. However, the initial trailer looks promising and suggests the remake could bring this beloved series back to its former popularity. You can now add *Blood Heat* to your wishlist on the Microsoft Store, but it isn’t yet available on Steam or the PlayStation Store.
