New Halo Book is a Direct Sequel to Halo Infinite’s Campaign

The latest news about Halo Infinite isn’t a new game or downloadable campaign – it’s a novel called Halo: Edge of Dawn. This book will continue the story of Halo Infinite instead of offering a playable expansion.

Since its release in 2021, Halo Infinite has faced some challenges. While the game initially disappointed players with limited content, it has improved as a live-service experience. However, the game’s campaign story hasn’t satisfied many longtime Halo fans. The ending was very open-ended, leaving people wondering about the future of the series. With the developers at Halo Studios remaining tight-lipped about upcoming plans, fans have been anxious to learn what happens to Master Chief after the events of Halo Infinite. Now, some answers are available, but players will need to read the newest Halo novel to find out what’s next.

As a huge Halo fan, I was really excited to see a new story featuring Master Chief with Halo: Edge of Dawn! It’s published by Simon & Schuster, and the author, Kelly Gay, has written some great Halo books before, so I was optimistic. Honestly though, it’s a little disappointing to get the continuation of his story as a novel instead of a new game or expansion, especially after waiting four years! We all heard Halo Studios cancelled plans for a campaign DLC, and a lot of us were really hoping to play as Chief in a new adventure. It looks like we’ll have to be patient and wait a bit longer for that.

It’s not the best way to find out what happened to Master Chief and his team after Halo Infinite, but thankfully, Halo has a tradition of good book adaptations. Books have always been important to the Halo universe, with key story details often revealed through them. This is great for fans who enjoy reading, but it can be confusing for players who aren’t familiar with the books.

Kelly Gay has also written several other Halo novels, including Halo: Smoke and Shadow, Halo: Renegades, Halo: Point of Light, Halo: The Rubicon Protocol, and Halo: Epitaph.

While we’re still waiting for news about the next main Halo game after Halo Infinite, there’s still plenty of Halo content on the way. Next year, Halo: Combat Evolved is getting a revamped version of its classic campaign. Although some players might be hoping for a brand new game, this update is significant because it will also bring Halo to the PlayStation 5 – a first for the franchise. Even though it’s not a completely new title, this is a major moment for Halo. After this release, the developers at Halo Studios will hopefully share what’s next for the series, but we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, Halo fans craving more story details can explore Halo: Edge of Dawn.
