This article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen season 2.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a hugely popular anime and manga series, and its success is undeniable. Fans are eager for anything related to the series, even stories that aren’t part of the official canon. The mobile game, Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade, has been providing exactly that extra content.
This game introduces a new storyline where Nanami plays a key role. Although Nanami died in the original story, he’s alive and well here, and is showcased in a beautiful new opening sequence created by MAPPA for this arc, called “Chained Chase.”

- A New Arc for the Smartphone Game Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade
As a huge *Jujutsu Kaisen* fan, I’ve been blown away by what MAPPA Studio has been doing lately! They just dropped a completely new opening animation for the *Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade* mobile game, and it’s incredible – seriously, who expects this level of detail for a mobile game?! But the biggest surprise? They brought back Nanami! He tragically died during Season 2, and now he’s a key part of this new arc, ‘Cursed Prison Island’, which is featured in the opening, ‘Chained Chase’. Apparently, the story revolves around rescuing him from a special prison for sorcerers. It’s so cool to see him back, and I can’t wait to see how this arc plays out!

Should The Jujutsu Kaisen Anime Add New Original Arcs?
Filler Arcs Aren’t Normal Anymore in Anime
Anime used to commonly include filler episodes or storylines, but this is happening less often now that many shows are released seasonally instead of weekly. Because the *Jujutsu Kaisen* story is about to become more intense with the start of the Culling Game arc in Season 3, it’s very unlikely the anime will add any completely new, unrelated filler content. However, fans who are looking for extra *Jujutsu Kaisen* material can find it in the mobile game, *Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade*.
Although the *Jujutsu Kaisen* manga finished in late 2024, you can still read it online for free on Manga Plus, where new chapters originally appeared each week. For those eager to continue the story, the sequel, *Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo*, is also available on Manga Plus with weekly releases. Chapter 5 of *Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo* is scheduled to come out on October 5, 2025.
