Summary

- The game introduces gameplay with the King of all Cosmos live streaming players’ rolling efforts.
- Apple Arcade will see five other games launching on April 3, with new content coming to existing titles.
A fresh installment of the popular game “Katamari Damacy” is coming soon, however, it comes with a condition. This latest addition to the “Katamari” series can be played exclusively on iOS devices via the Apple Arcade subscription platform.
Although the Katamari series debuted in 2004, it has experienced prolonged periods of inactivity throughout its existence. For instance, there was little activity between 2012 and 2015, and again from 2019 to 2022. A remastered version of We Love Katamari was launched in 2023, sparking interest in the ball-rolling game among some gamers. Now, a fresh installment of the series is on its way, but only a select few will have access to it.
The popular game “Katamari Damacy Rolling Live” is set to debut on Apple Arcade on April 3rd. As the first original game in the Katamari series in almost eight years, this latest installment promises to retain the classic gameplay mechanics with a fresh twist. In Katamari Damacy Rolling Live, players will once again control a magical ball called a Katamari, but this time their mission is to roll it across the earth, gathering objects to create a new star. The game has been updated with a contemporary feel.
What’s New In Katamari Damacy Rolling Live
In this game, players are actually rolling their Katamari ball in-game, much like it suggests by its name. A live audience watches as they play, with the King of All Cosmos streaming their performance. Comments from viewers, similar to those seen by real-world streamers during broadcasts, appear on-screen. The more successfully a player performs, the more comments and viewers their stream attracts. Additionally, boosting the King’s subscriber count by playing well unlocks new stages for the player to enjoy.
Apart from the upcoming “Katamari Damacy” game, Apple Arcade is set to debut five additional games on April 3rd. These include “Puffies”, “RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic+”, “Sesame Street Mecha Builders+”, “Space Invaders Infinity Gene Evolve”, and “The Game of Life 2+”. Before these releases, the service will be updating content for games like “NBA 2K25 Arcade Edition”, “PGA Tour Pro Golf”, and “Skate City: New York”. The new content for “NBA 2K25” and “PGA Tour” is scheduled for March 13th, while “Skate City” updates will be available on March 27th.
As a dedicated fan, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that “Katamari Damacy Rolling Live” will eventually make its way onto other platforms. Given the history of the series, it’s plausible but uncertain, as the game might be tied up in an exclusivity deal for some time. But hey, if you’re eager to give it a spin, you can test the waters with a free 1-month trial on Apple Arcade. If you find yourself hooked, the service costs $6.99 per month after that.
