In the new trailer for Season 2 of The Last of Us, we catch a quick peek at the continuation of the narrative set up in the 2020 game. It’s been understood that the richness of the source material would allow for a two-part series adaptation, but the showrunners have still come up with new story arcs.
Specifically, we delve deeply into the assault on Jackson – a safe haven for Ellie and Joel in the game – by hordes of infected. This scene doesn’t exactly occur in the game, but certain viewpoints echo those found in No Return, an extra mode introduced with the launch of The Last of Us Part II Remastered.

For crafting additional material for the live-action version of The Last of Us Part II, there’s ample source material to delve into. In 2023, when the first season premiered, viewers were rewarded with a whole episode focusing on the history of Bill and Frank, which earned the show an Emmy Award for that segment alone.
From the most recent preview, it appears that Craig Mazin, Neil Druckmann, and their team are adhering to a consistent approach for the second (presumably also the third) season of the HBO series.

Once more, the cinematography is incredibly accurate, and it’s clear that season two will feature some flashback sequences. For example, we’ll revisit scenes from the prequel where Ellie and Joel visit a museum on her birthday, eventually stumbling upon a building filled with dinosaurs, spaceships, and potential peril.
Additionally, we delve deeper into the lives of the Seraphites, however, it seems that further insights into Lev and Yara are still kept under wraps for now. The series does offer glimpses of other scenes hinting at a more comprehensive exploration of the Seraphites’ past, which could provide additional context to those who have not been familiar with the story up until this point.
In this scenario, the Wilderness Law Firm (WLF) plays a significant role, just like Abby’s group of morally ambiguous characters who are making their way towards Jackson without any specific purpose in mind.
