New LEGO sets, particularly those based on popular video games, are a serious threat to our spending habits. Just one announcement can tempt us to spend a lot of money, and the upcoming Legend of Zelda set looks like it will be especially hard to resist – potentially emptying our wallets and maxing out our credit cards.
The set was first hinted at in October, and quickly gained attention as being inspired by the climactic final battle from the beloved game, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The initial announcement caused a huge reaction online.
We’re even more excited now that The Lego Group has shared details about the set, including how much it will cost, when it will be released, and which beloved characters will be included in this incredible Lego creation.
A 2-in-1 LEGO Tribute To A Nintendo 64 Classic

The new LEGO Zelda set, called The Final Battle: Ocarina of Time, is based on the iconic fight against Ganondorf in his castle. It’s a surprisingly large set with 1,003 pieces, and it has a clever 2-in-1 design – meaning you can build and display it in at least two different ways!
We’ve already seen several images highlighting these two situations. One depicts the intense fight against Ganon’s monstrous form on top of the castle remains. Ganon appears impressively powerful (and huge!) in this state, shown right before Link attacks him – interestingly, Link is jumping towards Ganon while doing so.
The castle is falling apart, with flames visible in the background, and Princess Zelda shows up to help during the fight, mirroring a key moment from the first game.
The collection appears to be inspired by the climactic final battle from the beloved game, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
The second battle pits Link against Ganondorf in his human form, and it’s just as impressive as the fight with the monster. It appears you can manipulate Ganondorf, making him vanish and reappear at will. Plus, Princess Zelda is there fighting alongside Link, which is a welcome addition.
Don’t miss the cute Navi minifigure, who appears in both scenes – she’s a fantastic detail! You can see all the official photos released by The Lego Group below.
Finally, let’s discuss how much The Final Battle set will cost and when you can get it. It will be released on March 1st and will cost $129.99 (or £99.99). That’s less than half the price of last year’s Great Deku Tree set, as it’s a smaller build. Luckily, we have until March to save up before the release! You can pre-order it now on the official LEGO website.

Released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a hugely influential game that many consider a turning point in video game history. It essentially set the standard for how 3D action-adventure games are made, and its impact is still felt today.
It’s easy to see why The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has remained popular – it was originally re-released on the Nintendo 3DS as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D in 2011, and now it’s being celebrated with several LEGO sets. This beloved classic can now be enjoyed and displayed as a LEGO build.
