During the BAFTA Games Awards held in London, I had a fantastic chance to reconnect with Masumi, the exceptional actress who voices Naoe from Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This shinobi character surpassed my high expectations, leading me to declare her as one of the best Assassin’s Creed characters we’ve encountered in quite some time.

I’m absolutely thrilled! To be completely honest, I hadn’t been familiar with Assassin’s Creed before I signed up for this, as video games aren’t really my thing. However, as I’ve delved deeper into the project, it’s like a gradual awakening to realize my involvement, and I can’t help but feel incredibly excited and humbled by it.

I secured an audition for the role and prepared it as thoroughly as I would for a film or TV project. This character development process took me two years – I’m still working on it now, making it quite a lengthy endeavor. The immersion into Naoe’s complex character was truly captivating, as she had so many intricate layers.

In our conversation, we touched upon some contentious issues, including the ‘temple demolition’ motif that surfaced prior to the game launch. She clarified that she wasn’t aware such aspects were included in the game, and it was deeply distressing for her to witness them.

In the upcoming months, we can anticipate the growth of Assassin’s Creed Shadows through expansions, and I personally cannot wait to explore these additions and delve deeper into the journey alongside Masumi’s character.
