Nintendo has announced a special pre-order bonus for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, but it won’t be available to everyone. The return of the Metroid Prime series has been a long time coming, with the game facing many challenges and delays after its initial announcement at E3 2017. Development shifted from Bandai Namco to Retro Studios in 2019, and the game was essentially restarted before reaching its final version. Now, the wait is almost over for Metroid Prime 4 fans!
It’s been a long wait for Metroid Prime 4! Since it was first announced, two other Metroid games have come out: Metroid Dread, which went back to the classic 2D style, and Metroid Prime Remastered, a refreshed version of the original game for the Switch. Nintendo even released a new console, the Switch 2, while fans were waiting! Now, Metroid Prime 4 is finally launching on both the Switch and the new Switch 2, and Nintendo is offering a special bonus for those who pre-order.
Some Metroid Prime 4 Fans Are Getting a Special Pre-Order Gift

Nintendo Canada announced a bonus for fans who pre-order Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. If you pre-order the game at EB Games in Canada, you’ll receive a special holographic art card featuring the game’s cover art. This offer appears to be exclusive to Canada right now. The bonus is available no matter which version of the game you pre-order – either the one for the Nintendo Switch or the upcoming Switch 2.
Okay, so the hype is real for Metroid Prime 4! Nintendo’s letting some lucky fans get hands-on time with it at certain Walmart stores right now, which is awesome. And get this – people are already finding physical copies popping up before the official December 4th release! It’s crazy! Nintendo’s also warned us that the digital version is gonna be a big download – over 30GB, and it looks like it’s for the Switch 2, not the original Switch. Gotta make sure I clear up some space!
Metroid Prime 4 Is Experimenting with New Ideas
As a huge Metroid fan, I’m so hyped for Metroid Prime 4! Nintendo and Retro Studios are really shaking things up this time. It looks like they’re moving away from the traditional Metroid formula and giving us a massive, open planet to explore as Samus. The coolest part? They’re introducing “open zones” and giving Samus a motorcycle, the Vi-O-La, to zip around the huge deserts and jungles of this planet called Viewros. And get this – Samus is getting psychic powers! Apparently, she’ll be using them to solve puzzles and fight enemies, which sounds incredible. I can’t wait to play it!
With fans eagerly awaiting the release of Metroid Prime 4, rumors are circulating about more Metroid games coming to the Nintendo Switch. Last month, a source familiar with Nintendo’s plans suggested that Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Prime 3 could be remastered for the Switch, though no release date has been announced. Nintendo hasn’t officially confirmed any further remasters, but the surprise launch of Metroid Prime Remastered in 2023 – which was released the same day it was announced – shows they’re willing to deliver unexpected treats. Metroid is making a big comeback, and with Metroid Prime 4 almost here, it seems even more games could be on the way.
