New Naruto Anime Is Officially Coming In 2026

Naruto is easily one of the most famous anime series globally. Even people who don’t watch anime likely recognize the show and its main character, Naruto Uzumaki. The original Naruto anime was incredibly popular for many years, running from its start until 2017. Since then, the story has continued with a sequel series called Boruto, but even that show paused production in 2023.

Fans were shocked and thrilled when a continuation of the Naruto anime was announced in 2023, featuring four new episodes to celebrate the series’ anniversary. Unfortunately, those episodes were put on hold, but now they have an official release date! The four special episodes are confirmed to premiere in late 2026. This is great news for fans and will add to the story before the events of Naruto Shippuden begin.

Naruto’s 4 Special Episodes Are Finally Coming In 2026

  • Series Planned For A Late 2026 Release
  • Naruto Will Finally Make Its Grand Return

Few anime series are as well-known as Naruto. It’s one of the most successful titles from Shonen Jump, and continues to gain popularity even years after finishing its run.

Fans are still eagerly awaiting the new episodes, which aren’t a recent development. They were originally intended to come out in 2023 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Naruto anime, but that release didn’t happen.

Studio Pierrot postponed these episodes without announcing a new release date. They explained the delay was to improve the animation quality, promising fans a better viewing experience when the episodes finally aired. Essentially, they wanted to make sure the Naruto anime was as good as possible, even if it meant waiting longer.

The Episodes Were Initially Planned For Naruto’s 20th Anniversary

Fans would much rather have the upcoming Naruto episodes take a little longer and be high quality, and it sounds like the extra three years of work have paid off. Production on these episodes is now finished, and fans will be thrilled to hear that the long-awaited four special episodes are finally on their way.

The four special episodes of Naruto are currently planned to be released around late 2026. While a specific date hasn’t been announced yet, production on the episodes finished in 2025. Studio Pierrot is expected to share the official release date in the coming months, possibly with a new visual or trailer.

What Will Naruto’s 4 Special Episodes Be About?

The Story Is Set Before The Naruto Timeskip

The original Naruto Shippuden story finished with the end of the series, but these four new episodes will be set much earlier in the timeline. Judging by the released artwork, the episodes appear to focus on events before the time skip and when Sasuke left. This means fans will get to see Team 7 – Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi – working together as kids again, and everyone is eager to find out what new mission they’ll embark on. Details about the story are still a mystery, and a trailer will be released with more information soon.

The Future Of The Naruto Franchise Is Up In The Air

  • A Naruto Remake Is Needed
  • The Boruto Anime Could Return

Naruto is a popular series, but there hasn’t been much new anime content recently. Fans last saw updates through the show Boruto, which, despite not being everyone’s favorite, allowed them to continue following Naruto and his friends. However, Boruto paused production in 2023 because of various problems.

Although the Boruto anime is currently paused, it’s expected to come back eventually. There’s no set date for its return yet, but considering Studio Pierrot is reviving other popular series like Black Clover, a continuation of Boruto is highly likely.

As a huge Naruto fan, I’d be thrilled to see Boruto get another season, but honestly, what I really want is a full Naruto remake! The original series is amazing, but let’s be real, it’s starting to show its age. And don’t even get me started on all the filler episodes! Seeing One Piece get a fantastic remake by WIT Studio has got me thinking – Naruto deserves the same treatment. A modern update would be incredible and bring the series to a whole new audience!
