Overwatch 2 is hosting a special music festival event, but it will only be available to players in China. The game recently launched its eighteenth season, which introduced a new support hero named Wuyang. Season 18 also featured a collaboration with NBA star Luka Dončić, letting players earn a total of 77 loot boxes by completing challenges.
Overwatch 2 has partnered with musicians and other brands several times before. Last year, the game featured a collaboration with the K-pop group LE SSERAFIM, adding hero skins inspired by the group’s members. LE SSERAFIM returned earlier this year with even more skins for characters like Mercy and D.Va, and players could also buy the previous set of skins. This year has brought other exciting partnerships, including collaborations with G.I. Joe, Street Fighter 6, NERF, and the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5.
Overwatch 2’s Neon Pulse Music Festival Event is Only Available in China
As an Overwatch fan, I’m really excited about the new Neon Pulse Music Festival event! It’s a bit frustrating though, because it’s launching *only* in the Chinese version of Overwatch 2 on September 24th. From what I’ve seen in the trailer, there’s a fun little rhythm game called “Rhythmwatch” that looks super cool. They’re also releasing a festival pass, and five awesome new skins – Ashe, Junker Queen, Mercy, Pharah, and Sombra are all getting a Neon Pulse makeover! I’m hoping it comes to other regions soon.
The reason the Neon Pulse event is exclusive to players in China isn’t clear, but the five unique hero skins it features will be released for all *Overwatch 2* players, probably as purchasable bundles. However, many *Overwatch* fans around the world are upset that they won’t be able to experience the rhythm game and other rewards included in the battle pass. While some smaller cosmetic items from the festival pass *might* be available in those bundles, we won’t know for sure what’s included – or if it’s just the five skins – until they go on sale September 24th.

We’re about halfway through Season 18 of *Overwatch 2*, but Blizzard has plenty more planned before Season 19 arrives. The *Persona 5* collaboration event continues until September 29th, and the Anniversary 2025 event is currently running, bringing back a classic game mode and weekly Overwatch Classic content until October 13th. Season 19 is scheduled to launch on October 14th, so be sure to watch for more details in the coming weeks.
