Sony has unveiled a special PlayStation 5 controller to mark 20 years of the *God of War* franchise. While the PS5 originally came with white DualSense controllers, Sony has since released several different designs. These include stylish *Astro Bot* versions, limited editions tied to new game launches, and the high-end DualSense Edge controllers.
The recent PlayStation State of Play presentation mainly showcased upcoming PS5 games. It kicked off with a trailer for *Saros*, a new PS5 exclusive that feels similar to *Returnal*, and concluded with a preview of gameplay for *Wolverine*. Beyond games, Sony also announced some new hardware, including PlayStation wireless speakers and a brand-new controller, both of which will be released soon.
God of War PS5 Controller
The limited edition *God of War* PS5 DualSense controller is launching in October, though the exact date hasn’t been announced yet. You can pre-order it starting October 3rd at 10am ET through PlayStation Direct in the US, and at participating retailers. If you’re in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, or Luxembourg, pre-orders open at 10am local time on October 3rd. The controller will be priced at $84.99 when pre-orders begin.
The new *God of War* PlayStation 5 controller has a stylish design. It’s white, inspired by Kratos’s skin tone, and features his signature red tattoo on the right side. The controller’s d-pad and button icons are also red to complement the tattoo. While many fans are excited about this unique DualSense controller, some were hoping for more *God of War* news at the event.
The recent State of Play event didn’t offer any news about the *God of War* TV series coming to Prime Video, nor did it reveal any new games. While there are rumors of a *God of War* game set in Egypt and another 2D game taking place in ancient Greece, neither of these projects has been officially announced.
