  • Premiering on YouTube on February 27, 2025, it’s part of Pokemon’s 29th Anniversary celebrations.

Earlier today, it was announced that The Pokemon Company is creating a fresh, unique Pokemon anime, this time produced by CoMix Wave Films – the studio known for many films by Makoto Shinkai, such as “Your Name” and “Suzume”.

Pokémon is branching out into numerous productions catering to diverse age groups. It’s teaming up with Academy Award-winning studio Aardman for one of these projects, marking an unprecedented growth in its animated ventures.

The recently announced anime goes by the title “Kairyuu to Yuubin-san” in Japanese, which can be roughly translated as “Dragonite and the Delivery Person” or “Dragonite and the Mail Carrier”. Some sources suggest it could also be “Dragonite and the Mail Courier”, as Oricon has translates it. This information was shared on platform X, previously known as Twitter.

What is This New Anime About?

In the tale, Hailing from Paldea, there’s a girl named Hana who harbors admiration for a Dragonite who doubles as a postman. She nurtures an ambition to excel as one of the top mail deliverers! Upon stumbling upon a letter lacking an address, she embarks on an adventure with her Pokemon companion, Fuecoco, in pursuit of identifying its sender.

In no time, they uncover the author’s name: It was Rio, a young lad penning a letter to his dad on this special day. Together with Dragonite, she embarks on a frantic chase against the clock to ensure delivery is made before nightfall!

Release Date and Schedule of the New Series

The anime is slated for the Pokemon Anniversary celebrations of its 29th year, set to debut on YouTube on February 27, 2025. At this point, it remains undecided whether this series will consist of just a single episode or if additional episodes will be released on a regular basis, such as weekly.

As of now, there has not yet been an official announcement about its international release. However, since unique content often becomes available globally in the case of the Pokémon franchise, we might expect that eventually, it will be accessible internationally.

In the “Tattooine Rhapsody” episode of Star Wars: Visions, Taku Kimura takes on the roles of both director and storyboard artist, while Kentaro Nana serves as the lead scriptwriter.

You can now stream the newest installment of the primary Pokemon anime series, titled “Pokemon Horizons,” on Netflix.
