As a longtime Pokemon fan since the days of Red and Blue, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and excitement with the recent news about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The fact that some new copies of these games now include The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC without the need for additional downloads is just fantastic!
A report suggests that certain versions of the recently released Pokémon Scarlet and Violet game cartridges contain both the main game and The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, eliminating the need for any additional downloads. Photos of these special Pokémon Scarlet and Violet cards have been shared on social media platforms to help fans determine if their game requires any extra downloads or not.
Initially faced with technical glitches and graphic complaints from players, the ninth generation of Pokemon games, namely Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, has still managed to secure a spot among the top 10 best-selling Nintendo Switch titles. As of June 2024, these games have surpassed the sales milestone of 25 million copies, with an impressive 10 million being sold in just their first three days on sale. Approaching the one-year mark since its release, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet added two expansions called collectively The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. These expansions, titled The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk, were made available as downloadable content updates. Additionally, these updates aimed to resolve some performance issues reported by players.
As a fervent Pokémon fan, I’m thrilled to share that with both expansions out now, The Pokemon Company is giving newcomers an opportunity to explore the entire ninth generation seamlessly. It seems that some copies of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, complete with the The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, have popped up at various US retailers. Interestingly, these copies, initially sold in Japan, come pre-installed with version 3.0.1 of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, a version that was released for download back in February 2024. This means players can dive straight into the latest versions of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet without needing to download any updates, using these cartridges instead.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Game Cards May Now Include DLC Without Downloads
In summary, while playing multiplayer games or receiving Mystery Gifts online will still be required, as well as downloading specific content like the Mythical Pecha Berry needed for the Mochi Madness epilogue event post DLC completion. Moreover, @NJeisseRevised noted that certain versions of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet might not need a download, these versions will have “004” printed on the game cartridge’s back, just above the contacts. It’s important to remember that not all games may have been updated yet, so it’s advisable to check your cartridges for those numbers before use.
2025 is when we can expect “Pokemon Legends: Z-A” to debut, leading to a logical assumption that a streamlined version of “Pokemon Scarlet and Violet” might be released first. This way, players can play through the entire game series before the next title drops. It’s not yet clear when the covers for these games will be updated to reflect these changes.
