New Pokemon TCG 30th Anniversary Release May Include Some Beloved Classic Pokemon

Okay, so as a longtime Pokemon fan, I’m super excited about the 30th anniversary! It looks like The Pokemon Company is going all out. We’re already getting hints about the next video games, and the trading card game just released a new set called Ascended Heroes. But the biggest news? It seems like they’re bringing back the ‘First Partner Pack’ – I loved those back in the day! It’s shaping up to be a huge year for Pokemon, and I can’t wait to see what else they have planned for the TCG and beyond.

Fans of Pokémon are anticipating the 30th anniversary, and can look to the 25th anniversary celebrations for a preview of what’s to come. The 25th anniversary was marked by special releases, including the “Celebrations” expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This expansion featured both brand new cards and reprints of classic favorites, with a special “Classic Collection” bringing back iconic cards in anniversary editions. Now, as the 30th anniversary approaches, the Pokémon TCG is preparing another product designed to evoke nostalgia.

Pokemon TCG Anniversary Product May Feature Classic Pokemon

There’s buzz in the Pokemon Trading Card Game community about a new “First Partner Booster Pack Collection” planned for release in 2026. Although details are limited, it’s expected to arrive around March 2026. The name suggests the packs will feature special cards or reprints of the original Starter Pokemon from throughout the series. Pokemon released a similar product in 2021, which included large-sized reprints of the first Starter Pokemon from each generation.

Launched to celebrate the Pokemon franchise’s 25th anniversary, the First Partner Packs were a hit with fans thanks to both the special offers and the packs themselves. The collection included eight different sets, each based on the starter Pokemon trios from different regions, and two sets from the Sword and Shield era. A standout feature of these packs was one of the included booster packs, which often contained cards from the highly sought-after and valuable Evolving Skies set. Releasing a new version of the First Partner Packs would allow The Pokemon Company to bring back the popular oversized starter Pokemon cards and also include the trio from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

What Could Pokemon’s New First Partner Packs Look Like?

New “First Partner Packs” are expected, and like previous versions, they’ll likely feature some of the most popular Pokémon card sets released recently. This year has already seen several big Pokémon TCG releases, including expansions like Prismatic Evolutions, Destined Rivals, and Phantasmal Flames. The Pokémon TCG also tried something new with a dual set release – Black Bolt and White Flare both came out in July. Plus, September marked the start of a new era for the game, bringing back a beloved gameplay feature.

The recent release of the Mega Evolution expansion on September 26th brought back Mega Pokémon to the card game after a seven-year hiatus and introduced a special new rarity: stunning gold versions of Mega Gardevoir ex and Mega Lucario ex. With all these exciting developments in the Pokémon TCG, fans can expect big things as the anniversary celebrations begin.
