Get ready for a lot of new romance anime in 2026! We can expect around a dozen new series each season. Romance is consistently one of the most popular anime genres – second only to action – and it appeals to a wide audience with stories for everyone, including those geared towards different age groups and interests. These animated love stories are incredibly diverse, blending into genres like fantasy, science fiction, adventure, and even everyday slice-of-life. This flexibility is why romance remains so popular and enduring.
Throughout the year, we’ll be learning about more romance anime planned for 2026, and many will announce when they’re scheduled to air – especially as the Summer and Fall seasons still have plenty of openings. With over 35 anime shows coming out this year, it’s hard to watch them all, so we’re keeping a list of all the romance titles to help you choose what to watch.

Winter 2026 Romance Anime Series Recommendations
We won’t be discussing every romance from Winter 2026 – that would take forever! – but let’s highlight some of the best ones worth checking out. I’m not ranking them, just sharing a variety to suit different tastes. I always suggest watching as much as you can to find what you enjoy, but if you’re looking for a good starting point, here are a few recommendations.
- You and I Are Polar Opposites – A cute romance that follows the “opposites attract” mantra, and the main couple comes together almost instantly. With some slice of life and comedy elements, You and I Are Polar Opposites delivers an abundance of warm and fluffy scenes where the characters are allowed to exist without much in the way of tension.
- The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife – Peculiar premise aside, this anime is wholesome and charming, and it is great to see an anime that highlights a blind protagonist. Yakou and Tounome have a charming dynamic.
- In the Clear Moonlit Dusk – Arguably the most “romance” romance anime of Winter 2026, in the sense that it is really just part of this genre. A school’s female “prince” starts a relationship with a resident badboy; yeah, this is another anime that wastes little time getting to the good stuff.
- Tamon’s B-Side – The funniest romance anime of the season, Tamon’s B-Side is a laughriot from beginning to end, largely thanks to Utage’s absurd reactions. She ends up as the housekeeper for her favorite idol, but Tamon’s real-life persona is far different from the confident version that appears on stage. Along with keeping his secret, Tamon strives to make Tomon feel a bit more comfortable in his skin.
- There was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, so I Tried Confessing to Her – Not a great anime by any stretch of the imagination, but a solid enough isekai romance that moves at a blistering pace and features two likable leads.
- Love Through a Prism – Released in a batch on Netflix, this show might be the best romance of the season, even more so than the fantastic You and I Are Polar Opposites. To be honest, Love Through a Prism isn’t exclusively a romance, but the relationship between Lili and Kit is constant throughout the season.

Spring 2026 Romance Anime Series Recommendations
It’s still early in the season, so it’s hard to say which romance anime will be hits or misses. However, we can already suggest a few series that look promising and worth checking out.
- The Ramparts of Ice – Bolstered by a great opening episode, The Ramparts of Ice follows Koyuki, a girl who keeps people at a distance after being bullied during middle school. Now in high school, she only really has one friend, Miki, and she doesn’t seem like she wants to change that. However, she ends up stumbling into Youta and Minato, two approachable guys with wildly different personalities. Could friendship blossom? Or, maybe, something more?
- Go For It, Nakamura! – We don’t get boys love anime all that often anymore, so it is always exciting when one makes an appearance. Go For It, Nakamura! seems set to continue the theme’s recent shifts towards wholesome or realistic relationships, and it focuses on the protagonist’s unreciprocated love.
- Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring – Although romance hasn’t been the main focus so far, Agents of the Four Seasons is absolutely dripping in Spring mood. The first two episodes were both top-notch, so I would definitely recommend this one.
- I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class – Mostly a slice of life romcom, I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class got off to a decent start. If nothing else, this should be a relaxing watch.
- Marriagetoxin – For those who want a bit of action with their romance.
