The *Demon Slayer* manga finished its run back in 2020, but whenever a new anime season or movie is released, manga sales get another surge. The huge success of the *Infinity Castle* arc led to a significant increase in manga sales in Japan. In fact, it was the best-selling manga in August, moving over 500,000 copies. However, a different manga has unexpectedly surpassed *Demon Slayer* in sales, which is quite a surprise.

It’s impressive that Demon Slayer is still among the best-selling manga series, even though the story has finished. The series has become incredibly popular over the years, making a huge impact in Japan. Since the release of the Infinity Castle arc, Demon Slayer has sold over a million copies – a remarkable achievement. In August, it was the top-selling manga in Japan, according to Oricon. However, sales appear to be slowing down in September, as Demon Slayer fell from first to fourth place in August, with total sales of 345,000 for the month.
A newer manga, *The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity*, has recently surpassed it in sales, moving over 363,000 copies. This surge in popularity is likely due to the manga’s anime adaptation, which finished airing recently. While technically categorized as Shonen, *The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity* has many qualities of Shoujo manga and generally appeals more to that audience. Ultimately, it’s a fantastic story that has become incredibly popular this year.

Despite finishing third on the Oricon charts, beating out *Demon Slayer*, *The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity* couldn’t surpass *Kaiju No. 8* and *Chainsaw Man*. *Chainsaw Man* is experiencing a resurgence in popularity with its latest release, selling 380,000 copies and landing at #2. *Kaiju No. 8*, having recently concluded, remains popular, totaling 427,798 copies sold in September.
