Maxis mistakenly revealed a new feature for The Sims 4 called SimSearch. This update seems to be an addition to the game’s Gallery, making it easier for players to find creations shared by other The Sims 4 fans.
The Gallery in The Sims 4 has been available since January 2020, a little over five years after its online version launched. It’s a place where players can share and download creations – like Sims, rooms, houses, and whole worlds – without needing to use modifications. However, as the Gallery has grown with new features and more content, players have started to experience problems and are now asking for a major update.
SimSearch Reportedly Coming to The Sims 4 Gallery
Okay, so as a huge Sims fan, I’m really excited about something that might be coming soon! It sounds like Maxis is working on a feature called SimSearch, which would probably let us easily find Sims in our games. They actually announced it briefly on Instagram Stories – I saw a screenshot someone shared on Sims Community because the post was quickly taken down. It looked like it was supposed to be part of the November 4th update for The Sims 4, but the patch notes have since been changed and now don’t mention it at all. It seems like it might have been delayed at the last minute, which is a bummer, but hopefully we’ll hear more about SimSearch soon!
SimSearch May Support At Least 2 Modes
Recent updates to the German patch notes detail two new, experimental features called SimSearch modes: text-to-image and cross-language search. The text-to-image feature will let players find screenshots in the Gallery by typing what they’re looking for, using a visual search powered by advanced technology. At first, you’ll only be able to use single keywords, but more complex searches are planned for the future. The cross-language search will allow players to search for content in their own language, making the Gallery more accessible. Both features are designed to help players find better results in The Sims 4 Gallery.
Maxis’s Now-Deleted Patch Notes for SimSearch Modes
- Cross-language (Beta): Ideal for international Simmers. In addition to searching for specific object names, hashtags, and descriptions, you can now also search in your own language and still get the same search results displayed.
- Text-to-image (Beta): Initially, this will be used with individual keywords. In this search, the Gallery is scanned for matching images based on your search term. This efficient search opens up new areas of the Gallery that you may not have encountered before.
Improving the search function within the Gallery would be a major upgrade that Sims fans have been requesting for a while. This new feature also fits with EA’s broader plans to enhance The Sims Hub and other platforms for player-created content using artificial intelligence – a goal they announced publicly in September 2024.
Even though SimSearch wasn’t included in the update released on November 4th, its presence in the update files indicates it will probably be added to the game soon. Like other features found in Maxis’s recent updates, SimSearch is expected to be a free addition to The Sims 4.
