New StarCraft Shooter Likely To Be Revealed At BlizzCon 2026

The long-rumored StarCraft shooter looks set to be revealed this year.

Jez Corden from Windows Central reports that a StarCraft third-person shooter is probably going to be announced at BlizzCon in September 2026.

According to Corden, StarCraft is the likely focus of BlizzCon 2026. He says reports that a third-person shooter version of StarCraft is in development are true, something he’s confirmed through his own sources.

So, this new game has been talked about for ages! I first heard whispers about it way back in September 2024 when TopMob picked up on a report from Jason Schreier. He actually mentioned it was in the works in his book, ‘Play Nice,’ which is all about Blizzard. Apparently, Dan Hay, who used to be in charge of Far Cry, was heading up the development team.

Currently, we don’t have many specifics about the game, but the fact that it’s still in development should be encouraging for StarCraft fans. This isn’t the first time Blizzard has tried making a shooter game set in the StarCraft universe, though.

In 2002, Blizzard revealed StarCraft: Ghost, a game that combined stealth with action shooting. However, development was paused in March 2006, and the game was ultimately canceled.

Man, it feels like forever since we’ve gotten anything new in the StarCraft world. StarCraft: Remastered came out in 2017, which was cool, but it was mostly a refresh of the original. If you’re talking about a totally new game, it’s been even longer – StarCraft 2 dropped way back in 2010! I’m really hoping Blizzard gives us something fresh soon.
