New Steam 2D Battle Royale Game with Very Positive Reviews Is Free to Play

I recently stumbled upon this awesome free-to-play game on Steam called Goober Dash, and I’m really impressed! It’s a 2D battle royale, and almost everyone who’s played it seems to love it – it has a 90% positive rating! Steam has a ton of battle royale games, and a lot of them are free-to-play, making money through things like character skins. But honestly, the genre is still mostly ruled by games like Fortnite, Warzone, and the newer Battlefield REDSEC. Still, Goober Dash is a fun and surprisingly addictive little gem!

It’s easy for new and creative games to get lost in the crowd. But if you’re tired of the same old games and want something different, fun, and lighthearted, Goober Dash is definitely worth checking out, particularly if you enjoy battle royale games with fast-paced matches.

Goober Dash Is a Free-to-Play Fall Guys-like Battle Royale with 2D Visuals

Winterpixel Games released Goober Dash on November 27th as a free-to-play game, and it’s been very well-received on Steam. It’s a 2D battle royale where you jump and dash to avoid obstacles. Matches can hold up to 32 players, and the game features different modes. ‘Crown Rounds’ let you earn valuable in-game currency at specific times, and ‘Time Trials’ let players compete for the fastest completion times on a global leaderboard.

Goober Dash was first released in early access on Steam in December 2024.

Goober Dash races are simple: players start on a random track with a ticking clock, and whoever crosses the finish line first wins. Players are easily knocked out by obstacles, but they quickly respawn at the last checkpoint they reached, so the race continues until time runs out. While you can try to slow down opponents by pushing them into obstacles or blocking their way with items, most races are quick, so players usually just focus on finishing the course themselves.

Players are really enjoying how easy it is to pick up and play Goober Dash, but also how the challenging parkour and creative obstacles make each battle royale match feel different. The game’s Creator Mode is also a big hit, letting players build their own racetracks and customize the rules. Goober Dash is even promising to reward popular player-made tracks with in-game items like gems and outfits, which is motivating fans to create and share even more content.

So, I recently checked out this free game on Steam called Goober Dash, and it’s pretty fun! You play as these little bean-shaped characters – they seriously remind me of the guys from Fall Guys. Now, the game itself is free to play, which is awesome, but they do have a bunch of cool outfits and hats you can buy with real money if you want to customize your Goober and make it stand out. It’s totally optional, but I gotta admit, some of those cosmetics look pretty sweet.

If you enjoy free-to-play battle royale games like Fall Guys and Goober Dash, you have plenty of options on Steam. Stumble Guys and Bro Falls are good choices if you like the fast-paced, obstacle-course style of Goober Dash. For a more action-packed experience, check out Pixel Gun 3D. It’s a battle royale with a unique, blocky art style, similar to Minecraft, but with guns.
