New Steam Game is Like Stardew Valley Set in Rural Japan

A new farming simulation game is coming to Steam and Nintendo Switch, offering a unique experience inspired by the rural landscapes of Japan. The farming sim genre has become incredibly popular recently, thanks to the success of games like Stardew Valley, which has encouraged many independent developers to create similar “cozy” games. Even larger game companies have started adding farming elements to their titles, as seen in games like Like a Dragon: Ishin! and Pokemon Pokopia. This new game aims to bring an Eastern aesthetic to the genre.

Farming simulation games are really popular in the indie game world, so developers are constantly putting their own unique twists on the familiar gameplay. Some, like Fields of Mistria and Starsand Island, emphasize the adventure and combat found in games like Stardew Valley, with more detailed fighting and exploration. Others, such as Roots of Pacha, reimagine the genre in different historical settings, like the Stone Age. Now, a new game lets players experience the peaceful life of a rural Japanese village.

New Steam Game Takes Farming Sims to Rural Japan

G-MODE and Game Start LLC have announced a new farming simulation game called Japanese Rural Life Adventure, which will be available on Steam and Nintendo Switch. Players will be able to restore an old house and grow crops like rice and sweet potatoes in a peaceful Japanese village. The game also features cooking, fishing, bug-catching, and opportunities to help the town by fixing homes and reopening businesses. While a release date hasn’t been announced yet, the game is listed as “Coming Soon” on Steam.

The Steam page for Japanese Rural Life Adventure suggests the farming simulation will showcase many unique parts of Japanese culture. Players can expect beautiful spring cherry blossoms and lively summer festivals. The developer promises over 100 hours of gameplay, with strong traditional Japanese influences woven throughout the game and the player’s surroundings.

The farming simulation genre is thriving, and a new game called Japanese Rural Life Adventure aims to offer a fresh take on it. While we won’t see it this year, the creator of Stardew Valley has confirmed that a major update (version 1.7) is in the works, building on the success of last year’s 1.6 update. Just this month, Stardew Valley surprised fans with a collaboration with Among Us, adding new character skins inspired by the popular villagers. Overall, it’s a great time to be a fan of farming sims, with plenty of exciting games and updates on the horizon.
