Annapurna Interactive, known for popular games like *Outer Wilds* and 2022’s Game of the Year, *Stray*, is partnering with Yarn Owl Studios to create a new action-adventure game called Demi and the Fractured Dream. The game, which has a similar feel and art style to classic *Legend of Zelda* titles-blending retro and modern aesthetics-will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and other platforms. Players will be immersed in a vibrant fantasy world on the brink of destruction.
Games like *The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker* and *Journey* have proven that a certain art style really resonates with players who enjoy exploring 3D worlds. Now, *Demi and the Fractured Dream* aims to join these popular titles by offering a touching story and fun challenges. The game’s official trailer gives a first glimpse of what players can expect from this new adventure.
Demi and the Fractured Dream Trailer, Story, and Gameplay
In *Demi and the Fractured Dream*, you play as Demi, a creature empowered by a mysterious void curse. Guided by an enigmatic voice, Demi journeys through the beautiful but dangerous world of Somnus, from desert cities to sacred marshes. The goal? To hunt down and defeat three powerful, cursed beasts before they trigger a cataclysmic event. Gameplay is similar to *The Legend of Zelda*, featuring environmental puzzles, challenging dungeons, and a variety of weapons and spells to overcome monsters and ultimately defeat the Accursed Beasts.
As players explore the different worlds in the game, they can equip Demi with various charms to boost her abilities and customize how they play. The game features classic moves like jumping, climbing, and dodging, combined with fast-paced platforming to reach high places and see Somnus from new angles. With a visual style inspired by *Zelda* and epic boss battles similar to *Shadow of the Colossus*, *Demi and the Fractured Dream* hopes to offer a familiar yet fresh experience when it releases on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2026.

I’ve been a huge fan of action-adventure games for ages – ever since I first got a home console back in the 90s! It’s amazing to see how far they’ve come, with both big-name studios and smaller indie developers constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. So many games have really set the standard for how these types of games *look* and *play*. I’m really excited about Demi and the Fractured Dream, and I’m hoping it lives up to all the hype. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more news and details before it comes out!
