The addition of Rayman 2 to the Nintendo Switch Online service lends weight to a previously leaked list of Nintendo 64 games that could be released soon. Nintendo Switch Online has two levels of membership. The basic plan offers a selection of classic games, while the more expensive Expansion Pack includes games from Game Boy Advance, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, and GameCube, in addition to everything in the basic plan.
Over the past few years, Nintendo has been gradually adding Nintendo 64 games to the Expansion Pack level of its Switch Online service, making many of the console’s most popular titles available to subscribers. Games like Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time have been included for a while, and more recently, classics like GoldenEye 007 were added. While the Switch Online Expansion Pack offers a great selection of N64 games, there are still many more that haven’t been released yet.
Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack is getting two new N64 games on Wednesday, December 17th: Rayman 2 and Tonic Trouble. This is great news for fans of platformer games! The addition of Rayman 2 is also interesting because it supports a recent leak suggesting more N64 titles are coming to the service. Fans noticed blurred game covers in a Nintendo video, and Rayman 2 was among them, leading many to believe the other games shown will be added soon.
Leaked Nintendo 64 Games Possibly Coming to Switch Online
- Donkey Kong 64
- Glover
- Super Smash Bros.
I noticed a few more Nintendo 64 games shown with blurred-out box art in the video – Donkey Kong 64, Glover, and Super Smash Bros.! I’m really hoping Donkey Kong 64 gets added, even though it was made by Rare, who Xbox now owns. We’ve seen other Rare games come to Nintendo Switch Online, so fingers crossed! As for Glover, it’s a bit different since it wasn’t originally a Nintendo game, but a new version did just come out on Switch. Still, that doesn’t mean we won’t see the original N64 version added to the Expansion Pack too, right?
As a long-time Nintendo fan, I’m still hoping they add the original Super Smash Bros. to the Switch Online Expansion Pack. I know the sequels have tons more stuff, but there’s just something special about the first game – it’s super charming and a lot of fun. It’s a bummer it hasn’t made it to Switch Online yet, but seeing Rayman 2 finally appear gives me hope that Smash Bros. might eventually show up too!
The leak seems more and more credible now that Rayman 2 has joined Forsaken 64 on the Switch Online service. Both games were previously mentioned in the leak, and with two confirmed, it’s likely the remaining titles will be added soon. Hopefully, fans of classic Nintendo 64 games won’t have to wait much longer to play them.
