The time of New World: Aeternum is coming to an end.
Following the news that New World will no longer receive updates and will be shut down after 2026, Amazon Games has announced the specific date the game will become unavailable.
When Will New World Come Down?
I was really bummed to read on Amazon Games’ blog yesterday that they’re shutting down New World: Aeternum. Apparently, the game will go offline for good on January 31st, 2027, meaning we won’t be able to play it anymore after that date. It’s sad news for those of us who’ve been enjoying it!
Today, we’re also announcing that the game is no longer available for purchase, starting January 15th. If you already own it, you can continue playing and reinstalling it as often as you like until January 31, 2027.
The team expressed their gratitude to the players for their dedication and passion, and for the time everyone spent together building the world of Aeternum. They acknowledged building something special as a community and, while sad to be moving on, felt honored to have shared the experience with everyone.
New World is shutting down after the game’s development team experienced layoffs last October. These layoffs affected many parts of Amazon, including its game development teams and the streaming platform Twitch.
We’ve truly enjoyed working on New World: Aeternum and growing this amazing adventure alongside all of you. We’re excited to spend one more year with you and give this incredible journey the send-off it deserves. Thank you, from everyone on our team, for being a part of this world with us.
