New World of Warcraft Toy is the Opposite of Arachnophobia Mode

As a long-time WoW player who has faced my share of arachnids (and let me tell you, I’ve seen some big ones!), the introduction of the Arachnophobia Spectacles in World of Warcraft: The War Within is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, it adds another layer of hilarity to an already entertaining game, transforming everything from NPCs to player characters into spiders, crabs, or other creatures. On the other hand, as an arachnophobe, I find myself constantly toggling on Arachnophobia Mode to avoid being overwhelmed by the eight-legged invaders!

In the fresh addition to “World of Warcraft: The War Within”, called the Arachnophobia Spectacles, most characters in-game are changed into different types of spiders. This toy for “World of Warcraft” is a dread for arachnophobes, but it offers a humorous twist when activated with the new Arachnophobia Mode; instead of turning into spiders, everyone transforms into crabs!

In the epic saga of World of Warcraft: The War Within, one of the significant groups are the Nerubians – monsters with a spider-like appearance, appearing in various forms and sizes inspired by arachnids. To cater to fans who have a fear of spiders, World of Warcraft has introduced an optional feature called Arachnophobia Mode. This mode allows players to toggle it on, transforming spiders and most spider-like creatures in the game into crabs, insects, or other critters with similar characteristics.

Conversely, World of Warcraft introduced a unique item called the Arachnophile Spectacles within the game. This peculiar accessory is obtainable in Azj-Kahet, the fourth zone in WoW: The War Within, for 1500 Kej – the currency specific to the Nerubian kingdom. Upon activation, these spectacles metamorphose both players and non-player characters into diverse spider species from the game, ranging from the newly introduced jumping spiders to classic tarantulas. The transformation persists for a duration of 10 minutes, with a 30-minute cooldown period. As such, enthusiasts of arachnids can immerse themselves in a spider-filled environment for approximately one third of their gaming time if they so desire.

How to Get Arachnophile Spectacles in World of Warcraft: The War Within

  • Purchasable from Alvus Valavulu, a Nerubian jewelcrafting supplies vendor found within the Umbral Bazaar in the northern section of the City of Threads.

This amusing gadget brings a laugh-out-loud experience for “World of Warcraft” players when they activate Arachnophobia Mode. In this mode, the gadget changes all spiders into crabs, while it transforms other characters into different types of crustaceans instead. What’s even more entertaining is that these crab models can wield weapons and tools, resulting in some absurd scenes when used alongside the toy and accessibility settings.

As a devotee of all things arachnid, I can’t help but chuckle at the sight of spider and crab characters perched atop majestic mounts, presenting quite the spectacle with their numerous limbs awkwardly maneuvering around as they ride dragons and horses. Regrettably, the Arachnophile Spectacles don’t grant us the power to become spiders ourselves – but fear not! The Arachnoserum, a fascinating artifact obtainable from Renown 17 with the Severed Threads faction in World of Warcraft: The War Within for 1750 Kej, does just that.

Enthusiasts who fancy turning some in-game characters into something a tad cuter might consider acquiring the Overtuned Corgi Goggles instead. Those who don’t already own this item can probably find it during World of Warcraft’s approaching 20th anniversary celebration event.
