New Xbox CEO Has No Immediate Plans To Change Multi-Platform Strategy

If you haven’t been following gaming news lately, you might have missed that Phil Spencer has stepped down as head of Xbox. Asha Sharma, previously the leader of CoreAI, is now the new CEO of Xbox.

Xbox fans hoping for more games only available on Microsoft platforms might be disappointed, as that doesn’t appear to be the immediate plan.

Sharma recently acknowledged this, but emphasized that plans are still subject to change.

Xbox Console Exclusivity Not Set In Stone Per New CEO

Now that Xbox regularly releases its games on other consoles like the PlayStation 5, that practice might not continue under new Xbox leadership.

Sharma recently addressed this in an interview, giving a clear but flexible answer that allows for potential changes later on.

In an interview with Windows Central, Sharma said Xbox is open to completely rethinking its approach, but it will take time and careful analysis of data before any final decisions are made.

According to Sharma, Xbox is taking a flexible approach to releasing games on different platforms. He explained that while they have a current strategy, they’re willing to change it based on how well it’s working, essentially meaning they’ll keep evaluating whether to continue releasing games on platforms beyond just Xbox.

As Microsoft develops a new Xbox, many fans hope to see more games published by Xbox available only on Xbox consoles. While Microsoft currently earns money by releasing games on other platforms, offering exclusive titles is a key way to attract players and encourage them to choose Xbox over its competitors.
