New Xbox Update is Causing Some Headaches

Some members of the Xbox Insider group have recently found out that their console unexpectedly stopped functioning following the most recent update. The Xbox Insider program is an initiative that provides Xbox users with early access to new features, but it appears to be more susceptible to glitches than usual, and this issue seems to be one of the most severe in recent times.

In a nutshell, the Xbox Series X/S made its debut in November 2020, and it’s been projected that up to 30 million units have already been sold. Yearly, the Xbox undergoes several updates, however, not all of these improvements function flawlessly at launch.

How to Fix Xbox’s Recent Update Issue

  • Sign in to your Microsoft account registered in the Xbox Insiders program.
  • Launch the Xbox Insider Hub.
  • In the hub, go to “Settings” and “Manage Device.”
  • Remove your console from the Xbox Insiders program.

On September 2nd, several Xbox Insiders have encountered a 0x8B050033 error when powering up their consoles (as reported by Pure Xbox). Upon turning on the console, users have allegedly been unable to update the device or play games. Many affected players have taken to social media to voice their concerns about this issue. Fortunately, there seems to be a straightforward solution to this problem. Gamers are advised to sign in with the Microsoft account associated with their Xbox Insider membership, launch the Xbox Insider Hub, navigate to “Settings,” then “Manage Devices,” and remove their console from the program. This step should at least enable them to perform a factory reset on the console and reinstall updates. As expected, Microsoft is anticipated to resolve the issue soon.

It’s unfortunate to note that the problems faced by Xbox players aren’t limited to this incident. For instance, last month, the Xbox network experienced a significant downtime, lasting for quite a while. This caused hassles for gamers attempting to send invitations, messages, or engage in other activities during that period.

In July, Xbox users encountered an unusual problem: a glitch causing their console to suggest updating every game they had installed. When users clicked on the update option, all updates were successfully completed and games functioned normally. This made some users speculate that the issue might have stemmed from a licensing verification problem.

Approximately three weeks prior to this event, another significant problem arose for certain gamers as Xbox Party Chat and other functionalities abruptly stopped functioning. This predicament presented substantial inconvenience for individuals attempting to connect online with friends for play. Generally, Xbox is known for its dependable online services and updates; however, occurrences like these demonstrate that occasional technical difficulties do arise, but they are typically resolved in a timely manner in most cases.
