NHL 25 Gameplay Deep Dive Released

As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours on the ice with NHL series, I am beyond excited for the release of NHL 25! The deep dive into its gameplay features is nothing short of impressive, and it’s clear that EA Sports has been listening to the community’s feedback.

EA Sports has shared an in-depth look at the gameplay for the upcoming NHL 25, which is scheduled to release in October. Initially planned for release on August 30, it had to be delayed following the unfortunate passing of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau

In a comprehensive analysis of NHL 25’s gameplay, EA Sports discusses their innovative Ice-Q technology for this year’s edition. This technology brings about enhancements such as improved vision control, upgraded AI, and more responsive actions. The aim is to make the on-ice action feel as authentic as possible compared to real hockey games

NHL 25 Gameplay Features

All of the below information comes directly from EA Sports itself.

Next-Gen Vision Control

As a devoted fan, I’m excited about the advancement of Next-Gen Vision Control, which is an upgrade to Chel’s skating system. This innovation gives us, the players, additional time and room on the ice by introducing new skills, enhancements, and a user-controlled skating mode that boosts responsiveness, power, and artistic expression, whether we’re human or AI players

“In other words, when Next-Gen Vision Control is activated, the player moves towards the goal when they have the puck within the offensive zone. This adjustment allows for a more realistic approach to skating, shooting, or passing from any point in the offensive zone.”

Empowered AI

“Our AI player system undergoes a significant transformation into an ‘Empowered AI’, enhancing the cognitive abilities of CPU skaters. This upgrade allows them to better perceive other players’ positions on the ice, enabling them to make smarter and more realistic decisions during gameplay.”

Beyond this, every one of Chel’s In Zone tactics – such as Behind the Net, Overload, and Crash the Net – has been fundamentally overhauled to enable skaters to make superior use of open areas and place themselves in advantageous positions to become more formidable offensive forces

Reactive Actions

For the first time in NHL 25, there’s a feature called “Reactive Actions” that lets players glide gracefully around each other without colliding or getting entangled, much like professional hockey players do when navigating on the ice

Additionally, fresh maneuvers for panic turns enable players to swiftly alter direction and employ their sticks to obstruct open spaces when outmaneuvered on the ice. This enhancement makes defensive players more agile and responsive. Furthermore, players will stretch their legs to attempt to block a shot or pass, while offensive teammates will lower their sticks into potential passing areas if they believe they are in an advantageous position

Skill-based One-timers

In this updated game version, there’s a fresh visual sign within the game that marks a teammate as an ideal target for a Skill Based One-Timer. To execute a successful pass and score with a Skill Based One-Timer, you should press the shot control key just as the puck reaches your teammate. The time window to hit a perfect Skill Based One-Timer is adjustable based on the speed of the pass and the player’s skills like the One T X-Factor

“Time it right, and you’ll execute the Powerful and Precise Skill Shot, but if your timing fails, its accuracy decreases, adding tension and intensifying the gameplay.”
