Summary
- Niantic will remove the Pass Point cap from the Tour Pass once the Pokemon GO Tour event begins.
- The Tour Pass allows players to unlock rewards, though Pass Points are capped during the Road to Unova event.
- Players were upset by the point limit and questioned the developers’ decision to implement this cap in the first place.
In simpler terms, the creator of Pokemon GO announced that they will eliminate the limit on Pass Points in the Tour Pass once the event starts. This clarification comes after players expressed concerns about understanding how the Tour Pass functions in Pokemon GO prior to the GO Tour event, and Niantic is addressing these issues.
Since 2021, I’ve been participating in the Pokemon GO Tour events, where I get unique tasks, encounter more Pokemon, and even have a chance to catch rare and shiny ones. Niantic introduced something new for 2025 – the Tour Pass, a system that runs from February 2024 to March 2. This allows me to earn points to unlock various rewards, enhance event bonuses, and even get more perks if I upgrade to the Tour Pass Deluxe. But here’s the catch: you can only unlock five tiers per day, which left many of us feeling a bit disappointed.
Niantic shared additional information about the Pokemon GO Tour: Unova event on Twitter, clarifying the status of the Tour Pass. The developer explained that during the Road to Unova phase, players can collect a specific number of Pass Points each day from Monday through Friday. But, it’s important to note that this limitation only applies before the event officially begins. Once the GO Tour Global weekend commences, the limit on Pass Points will be lifted, enabling players to gather an unlimited number of points.
Pass Point Cap Will Be Removed Once Pokemon GO Tour Starts
Despite the explanation provided for the inability of players to advance on their Pokemon GO Tour Pass, some continue to express frustration over the situation. The Tour Pass consists of a full 500 levels, and certain enthusiasts have voiced feelings of being “cheated” since they bought the paid pass under the assumption that there would be no limit, contending that Niantic failed to make clear the rules in advance. Reacting to the developer’s Twitter post, one player commented that the restriction “makes absolutely no sense at all,” while others merely wondered why such a decision was made initially.
As a dedicated Pokémon GO enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the upcoming Tour event, which comes hand-in-hand with the Tour Pass. This exciting occasion is packed with goodies for us players, such as new Adventure Effects for Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. During this event, we’ll get to decide between two exclusive event badges that influence our rewards and bonuses. Furthermore, we can collect Unova stickers and enjoy the catchy tunes inspired by Pokémon Black Version, White Version, Black Version 2, and White Version 2. As I eagerly await the event, Niantic has clarified how the Tour Pass operates, making it easier for us to prepare!
