The first GameCube game coming to Nintendo Switch Online in 2026 will be a classic from one of Nintendo’s most popular series, especially exciting since a new game in that same series is coming out later this year.
I’m so excited! Nintendo just added Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance to Nintendo Switch Online, but it’s part of a special GameCube collection that’s only available on the new Nintendo Switch 2. It’s awesome that I can finally play this classic on my Switch 2!
Fire Emblem Takes Center Stage in 2026
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance came out in 2005 and was the only game in the series for the Nintendo GameCube. It was also the first Fire Emblem game released on a console in the United States, and critics generally liked it when it first came out. Since then, five more Fire Emblem games have been released. The game stars Ike, who later appeared as a playable character in several Super Smash Bros. titles.
Path of Radiance is the eighth GameCube title added to the Nintendo Switch Online service. Unlike previous releases like F-Zero GX and Wario World, players already know the next game in the Fire Emblem series is on its way to the Nintendo Switch 2. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave will be a launch title for the new console, announced during the September 2025 Nintendo Direct. Currently, a specific release date for Fortune’s Weave hasn’t been announced.
