Nintendo Breached by Notorious Hacker Group, It’s Claimed

Nintendo may have been hacked by a notorious group called Crimson Collective. This group recently took credit for a cyberattack on Red Hat, where they stole a large amount of data – 570 GB. Security experts have been monitoring Crimson Collective for the past few months, and now reports suggest they’ve targeted Nintendo.

A screenshot shared on social media by Crimson Collective appears to reveal a collection of Nintendo files, but it’s still unclear if a security breach actually occurred.

Has Nintendo Been Hacked?

A picture is circulating on social media, reportedly from the hacker group known as Crimson Collective, appearing to show a collection of Nintendo files. These files seem to include details about upcoming games, development materials, administrative documents related to production, and backup data.

Hackmanac reported on social media that hackrisk.io is monitoring the claimed data breach. Crimson Collective added a comment with a screenshot providing more details.

Who said we did not have Nintendo topics files?

As a Nintendo fan, it’s been pretty worrying to hear about their security issues over the years. I remember back in 2018-2020 when a ton of old game source code showed up online – that was a huge deal! And then in 2020, over 300,000 Nintendo Network IDs were compromised, which meant a lot of people had their accounts messed with. It definitely makes you think about keeping your info safe.

We’ve contacted Nintendo for a statement, but for now, this information should be viewed with skepticism. We’ll find out soon whether this data leak is real. If it is, fans are worried that many of Nintendo’s upcoming, unreleased games and projects could be revealed unexpectedly.
