Nintendo has confirmed a new Nintendo Direct presentation will be held in January 2026. Fans were anticipating an announcement, and many predicted it would happen in February, which is a common month for these presentations – along with a dedicated Pokémon Direct. However, Nintendo decided on January instead.
February 27th marks 30 years of the Pokemon franchise. Historically, Nintendo has held two Direct presentations in February: one showcasing a variety of games, and another specifically dedicated to upcoming Pokemon titles. This pattern might repeat, especially considering a unique Nintendo Direct planned for January 2026. Unlike typical presentations, this Direct won’t feature any game announcements at all – neither from outside developers nor from Nintendo themselves.
A new Nintendo Direct presentation is scheduled for Sunday, January 25th, at 6 AM Pacific Time / 9 AM Eastern Time. The presentation will focus on the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie and includes a brand-new image. This image gives fans their first official glimpse of Fire Mario and Fire Luigi. The movie follows Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad as they travel to Outer Space to battle Bowser Jr., and it’s expected to be released on April 3rd.
