Nintendo recently disclosed the latest ranking of top-selling video games for the Nintendo Switch console. With sales steadily increasing, the Nintendo Switch is poised to surpass its predecessors as Nintendo’s most popular console, nearing the record set by the DS. A significant factor contributing to the Switch’s success is its expansive collection of critically acclaimed games.
Ever since the launch of the Nintendo Switch in 2017, both Nintendo and third-party developers have released a wide array of games for it. These releases have been met with both commercial and critical acclaim, resulting in one of the most impressive game libraries in gaming history. In fact, Nintendo regularly shares updates on their top-performing titles every quarter.
As a dedicated gamer, it’s no shocker that the recent update on Nintendo Switch’s top-selling games list hasn’t shuffled things much. Still, every game in the top 10 has seen an increase in sales. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continues to reign supreme with a whopping 68.86 million units sold under its belt, while Animal Crossing: New Horizons holds strong in second place, moving 48.19 million units. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Super Mario Odyssey complete the top five, clocking in at 36.55 million and 29.50 million units respectively.
List of the Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games
Game Title | Units Sold (as of June 30, 2025) | Previous Units Sold (as of May 2025) |
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe | 68.86 million | 68.20 million |
Animal Crossing: New Horizons | 48.19 million | 47.82 million |
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate | 36.55 million | 36.24 million |
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild | 33.04 million | 32.81 million |
Super Mario Odyssey | 29.50 million | 29.28 million |
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet | 27.15 million | 26.79 million |
Pokemon Sword and Shield | 26.84 million | 26.72 million |
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom | 21.93 million | 21.73 million |
Super Mario Party | 21.19 million | 21.16 million |
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe | 18.36 million | 18.25 million |
In the current scenario, it appears that the top 10 rankings won’t undergo significant changes; however, there’s a chance that “New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe” might be dethroned eventually. Given the high acclaim “Super Mario Party Jamboree” has received, one can speculate that it will eventually outshine “Super Mario Party,” which is at present superior to “NSMBU Deluxe.” However, with the launch of Switch 2, it seems many Nintendo enthusiasts might be more engaged with the exclusive games available on the new console.
After a sufficient number of exclusive games for the Switch 2 have been launched, it’ll be fascinating to observe which titles become the platform’s top picks. Currently, Mario Kart World leads with an impressive 5.62 million units sold, and it’s expected that Donkey Kong Bananza will also secure a spot among them. As of now, there are no fresh Zelda or Mario games available on the Switch 2, but when they eventually debut, it’ll be intriguing to compare their sales against those of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
