Nintendo Reveals New Switch 2 Joy-Con Colors

Nintendo has revealed a new color option for Switch 2 Joy-Cons: a vibrant green and purple combination. These are the first official Joy-Cons released for the Switch 2 since it became available last year.

Over the years, both the original Nintendo Switch and the OLED model have had many different versions of Joy-Con controllers. These ranged from simple color changes to completely redesigned controllers with unique artwork. While Nintendo regularly released new official Joy-Cons for the original Switch, the most detailed designs often came out with major first-party games like Pokemon, Mario, and The Legend of Zelda. These special edition controllers were made for collectors and often looked like they were pulled straight from the game world—for example, the Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee Joy-Cons matched the colors of Pikachu and Eevee, and the The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom OLED Joy-Cons featured designs inspired by the Zonai people.

Nintendo Annouces New Purple and Green Switch 2 Joy-Cons

Nintendo is releasing new Joy-Con controllers for the Switch 2 in light purple and light green on February 12, 2026. Fans can pre-order them now from the official Nintendo Store for $99.99 – the same price as the standard blue and red Joy-Cons. They’ll also include black wrist straps, just like the original Switch 2 controllers.

The new Joy-Cons for the Nintendo Switch 2 will mostly be matte black, similar to the original Switch’s Joy-Cons. Unlike some other controllers made for the original Switch, the new ones won’t have brightly colored bodies. The only color accents will be on the base of the thumbsticks and the bar that connects the Joy-Cons to the console. Besides these small color changes, the new Joy-Cons are the same as the ones that come with the Switch 2, offering features like HD Rumble, motion controls, mouse-like functionality, and a dedicated button to access the new GameChat feature.

Although the new Joy-Cons don’t seem directly connected to Mario Tennis Fever, they were revealed shortly after Nintendo released a detailed gameplay video of the game. The video showcased that Mario Tennis Fever will launch with 38 playable characters and offer optional motion controls. A key feature is the ‘Fever Rackets,’ which can dramatically change the opponent’s court. The game supports local multiplayer for 1 to 4 players, making these new green and purple Joy-Cons a great addition for Switch 2 owners looking to play with friends.
