Nintendo has announced the release date for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream.
On January 29th, Nintendo hosted a Direct presentation focused on their new game, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream.
Tomodachi Life is a late release for the original Nintendo Switch, coming before the launch of the popular new Nintendo Switch 2. The recent game presentation showed off everyday activities Mii characters can do, like shopping, watching the news, and even creating pets and drinks like lattes.
The presentation revealed that players will be able to craft items for their island and even experience relatable emotional moments, like heartbreak.
So, during the presentation, they finally announced the release date! I’m super hyped to say it’s coming out on April 16, 2026, and it’ll be available on all Nintendo Switch consoles – the standard one, the OLED, and even the Lite. Can’t wait!
History of the Tomodachi Life Series
Tomodachi Life first came out on the Nintendo 3DS in 2014. The game lets you watch Mii characters – those customizable avatars Nintendo used to feature heavily – live their daily lives. It was actually a follow-up to an earlier game that was only available in Japan.
The original game was a huge success, selling more than 6 million copies and becoming one of the most popular Nintendo 3DS titles ever. Now, after more than ten years, the new sequel is among the last games Nintendo is releasing for the original Switch console.
