After a seemingly endless wait, Nintendo has decided to unveil their long-awaited secret and officially unveil the Nintendo Switch 2.
After the console’s unveiling earlier this year, fans have been eagerly anticipating the first official peek at the games scheduled to launch alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 later in the year. We know that a new Mario Kart game is on its way, and it’s possible that some original Nintendo Switch games might receive an improved update for the new console. Could we see a special Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond? It’s plausible, although at this point, it remains speculation.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excitedly awaiting the updates from today’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct! Keep an eye on this space as we’ll be sharing fresh insights throughout the event. Don’t miss out on the latest news!
Everything Announced Today During the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct
Last week’s Nintendo Direct highlights are all here! We’ve got a fresh Metroid Prime 4 Beyond trailer, the latest on Pokemon Legends: A to Z, and an unexpected reveal – a brand new Tomodachi Life game!
There have been whispers about certain exclusive Xbox games potentially being ported to the Nintendo Switch 2. Whether it’s accurate or not remains to be seen!
Today’s Nintendo Direct begins at 9:00 AM Eastern Time or 6:00 AM Pacific Time, and it’s packed with approximately an hour and a half of exciting updates!
From the get-go, it’s clear that a fresh Mario Kart is in store for Nintendo Switch 2 – and with this exciting news, let’s dive right in!
Mario Kart World Announced For Nintendo Switch 2

In the latest installment of the Mario Kart franchise, it appears they’re carrying over similar gameplay mechanics as Mario Kart 8, specifically the concept of racing in zero-gravity environments. However, this time around, there’s an exciting new feature: racers are seen gliding along rails!
Mario Kart World offers players a chance to “traverse various global locations” when they compete, featuring shifting day/night and weather patterns along with expanded open-world racing experiences.
We also believed that we’d see races hold up to 24 players at a time, and now we have confirmation.
In Mario Kart World, a fresh gameplay option known as “Knockout Tour” is being introduced, taking cues from Battle Royale games. If you fail to reach the designated checkpoint within the allotted time, you’ll be knocked out of the competition.
A hint at an open-exploration feature was given too, offering the chance to travel the game’s world alongside friends, as well as a photography mode for capturing memorable moments.
Mario Kart World is set to debut simultaneously with the release of Nintendo Switch 2. Further details about the game will be unveiled during a Nintendo Direct broadcast scheduled for April 17th.
Nintendo Switch 2 Includes Game Chat
The new, mysterious C button has been revealed: it’s Game Chat coming to Nintendo Switch 2!
Essentially, it serves as Nintendo’s equivalent to Discord. You can engage in chats with your friends, broadcast gameplay, and much more within the platform.
After employing indirect methods involving Nintendo’s built-in apps to communicate vocally during Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, it’s pleasing to discover a native feature for talking with friends directly.
I quite appreciate the addition of the camera as well. Granted, the live stream isn’t the sharpest right now, but let’s keep our fingers crossed that it gets polished before the release of Nintendo Switch 2.
The camera inclusion is a thoughtful feature, I must say. However, it could be improved as the current streaming quality isn’t quite up to par. Fingers crossed that it improves by the time Nintendo Switch 2 hits the market.
