Nintendo Switch 2 Has 4 Games Releasing in August 2025

Owners of the Nintendo Switch 2 are likely still engrossed in gathering all the bananas in Donkey Kong Bananza, but there’s a host of new games to anticipate too. Nintendo unveiled the Switch 2 in June, boasting an extensive roster of games, predominantly upgraded versions of past titles such as Street Fighter 6, Yakuza 0, and Cyberpunk 2077. The highlight of the Switch 2’s launch lineup was undoubtedly Mario Kart World, which came as part of a $499.99 bundle.

To begin with, the initial lineup of exclusive games for the Switch 2 at launch featured titles such as the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, Fast Fusion, Survival Kids, and Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster. Approximately a month later, Donkey Kong Bananza was added to the collection, making it a standout exclusive game for the system. Notably, reviews for Donkey Kong Bananza have placed it among the highest-rated games released this year, boasting an impressive overall score of 91.

In the past two months, the Nintendo Switch 2 has been releasing critically acclaimed games back to back, such as “Mario Kart World” and “Donkey Kong Bananza”. With these games, early adopters of this versatile home console/handheld hybrid may be curious about what’s coming next. As we wait to see how the gaming community reacts to future Switch 2 releases, there are at least two more unique experiences set for August.

One such exclusive is “Drag x Drive”, which will debut as a $20 digital-only game on August 14 alongside “Madden NFL 26”. Following closely behind, “Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar” – a remake of the DS game “Harvest Moon DS: Grand Bazaar” – will launch on August 27. The next day, on August 28, “Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World” will be available in stores.

New Switch Games for August 2025

  • Drag x Drive – August 14
  • Madden NFL 26 – August 14
  • Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar – August 27
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World – August 28

For August 2025, only four new games for Switch 2 have been confirmed, and these upcoming titles are quite intriguing. One of them is “Drag x Drive,” a unique multiplayer wheelchair basketball game that leverages the mouse-like functionality of Joy-Con 2 controllers for its controls. Since this isn’t the usual type of game Nintendo produces, it leaves one curious to see how well it will fare. Coincidentally, sports enthusiasts on Switch 2 will also get “Madden NFL 26” on the same day, marking the first Madden NFL game to appear on a Nintendo console since Madden NFL 13 was released on the Wii U, which was 13 years ago.

It’s being whispered that a Nintendo Direct event might take place towards the end of July 2025. If this is true, there’s a chance that additional games could potentially be unveiled for the anticipated launch of the Switch 2 in August 2025.

In a continuation of its lineup for the Nintendo Switch 2, Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar brings another charming game option to the platform. Meanwhile, Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World is stepping up as a successor to popular Switch 1 games that have received enhancements for the Switch 2, similar to Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, and more recently, Super Mario Party Jamboree. The updated version of Kirby and the Forgotten Land on Switch 2 not only boasts performance improvements but also offers fresh content with the Star-Crossed World expansion. Although August 2025 may not be overflowing with Switch 2 releases, there’s still a lot for Nintendo Switch 2 fans to get excited about in the coming month.
