At the upcoming launch of Nintendo Switch 2, one of the exciting titles to look forward to is “Survival Kids,” developed by Konami. This game enables up to three friends to join forces through the local GameShare feature as they embark on an adventure together. The anticipated release of Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a lineup of 24 games, with the revamped version of Konami’s classic “Survival Kids” being one of them – providing a cooperative experience for players to enjoy locally.
1999 saw the significant debut of “Survival Kids” for the Game Boy Color, as it introduced fundamental survival mechanics to handheld gaming. In this game, players adopted the character of either a boy or girl stranded on an uninhabited island following a storm, tasked with managing essential needs like hunger, thirst, fatigue, and health. The game offered engaging features such as item crafting, a changing environment, and non-linear progression. A sequel followed, and the franchise eventually expanded into the “Lost in Blue” series on Nintendo DS and Wii, maintaining the survival theme. Recently, during the April Nintendo Direct, a trailer for “Survival Kids” was unveiled among the Nintendo Switch 2 launch titles. Now, a major new feature has been disclosed.
In an interview with Game File, Andy Dennison, producer of Survival Kids, disclosed that the initial game for Nintendo Switch 2 will include local multiplayer options for up to three players, facilitated by Nintendo’s novel GameShare function. This means that multiple players can enjoy the game without needing separate copies. Additionally, the GameShare feature will enable Survival Kids to be played on both a Nintendo Switch 1 and a Nintendo Switch 2, provided one party has the latest version of the console and the game itself.
Survival Kids Will Feature Local Co-Op for Up to Three Players Through GameShare
Dennison elaborated about the functioning of Survival Kids, revealing it will collaborate with Nintendo’s latest GameShare feature. He mentioned that the upcoming Switch 2 transmits the game to friends’ devices, allowing them to instantly join local multiplayer modes by clicking a button on the menu, even if they don’t own the game or the Switch 2 themselves.
More recently, the library of games accessible through Nintendo Switch Online has expanded by four Game Boy titles, including the original Survival Kids. This gives a fantastic chance for those who haven’t experienced any game from this series yet to get ready for the upcoming launch of the new Survival Kids on June 5th. Alongside these, 24 other games, such as Konami’s classic, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Hogwarts Legacy, Fortnite, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, will be introduced with the Switch 2. Excitingly, Nintendo enthusiasts have a lot to anticipate as they await the arrival of the new console and its launch titles.
