Nintendo Switch 2 Remains Company’s Fastest-Selling Platform

Since its launch on June 5, 2025, the Nintendo Switch 2 has been incredibly popular. Building on the success of the original Switch, the new console offers improved performance and a growing library of must-have exclusive games, and consumers are buying it quickly.

While the jump from the Nintendo Switch to the Switch 2 might not feel as dramatic as past console upgrades, it’s still proven incredibly profitable for Nintendo, generating millions in revenue throughout 2025 and into early 2026.

Nintendo FY26 Financial Results Show Huge Numbers For Switch 2

Nintendo recently released its financial report for February 3rd, and the numbers show the Switch 2 had a remarkably successful first year.

Nintendo recently announced that the Switch 2 has sold 17.37 million units by the end of 2025. They also shared a chart illustrating how its sales compare to the original Switch.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is currently selling even faster than the original Switch did, making it Nintendo’s quickest-selling dedicated game console ever.

Nintendo’s own games are performing exceptionally well. Mario Kart World has sold over 14 million copies, Donkey Kong Bananza has reached 4 million, and the new Pokémon Legends: Z-A for the Switch 2 is quickly nearing the 4 million mark as well.

With exciting new Nintendo games like Mario Tennis Fever and Pokémon Pokopia on the way, the Nintendo Switch 2, expected in 2026, is looking even more appealing. Nintendo likely has unannounced titles in development too, ensuring a strong stream of games to drive sales for the new console.

So, I’m curious – anyone out there got a Nintendo Switch 2? What made you take the plunge and buy one? And if you’re a Nintendo fan but haven’t gotten a Switch 2 yet, what’s holding you back?
