It’s possible that a Nintendo Switch 2 game console may have been secretly taken out of its manufacturing plant in China before its official release. With the highly anticipated second version of Nintendo’s modern console, many fans have waited eight long years. The expected launch date for the Nintendo Switch 2 is June 5, but it appears that one individual couldn’t wait any longer and allegedly pilfered a console directly from the production line.
The Switch 2 won’t hit store shelves until June, but U.S. pre-orders for it will be available on April 24. Originally, Nintendo had planned to start pre-sales on April 9, however, due to the extensive tariffs implemented by the Trump administration, the company chose to delay the pre-sale so they could evaluate how these tariffs might affect their upcoming console. Given the high anticipation for the Switch 2, many enthusiasts have already marked their calendars with both the pre-sale and release dates. In fact, it’s rumored that one person may have illegally acquired a unit before its official launch.
A clip circulating on BiliBili, a Chinese social media site, seems to depict a supposed Nintendo Switch 2 undergoing quality checks, as it runs diagnostic software. The video reveals options such as charge battery, run aging test, reboot, and power off, suggesting the device is equipped with pre-installed quality control software prior to retail firmware installation. Additionally, the video shows someone connecting and disconnecting Joy-Con controllers from the console. As of now, Nintendo has remained silent about the clip and hasn’t confirmed its authenticity.
Nintendo Switch 2 Reportedly Stolen Before Upcoming Launch Date
In the video showcasing the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons, some previously unveiled features are already available, such as its magnetic attachment system that securely locks it into place and the enigmatic C button designed for GameChat use. The appearance of these new Joy-Con in the video implies a high likelihood that this aspect of the console is authentic.
Apart from the Joy-Con controllers, Nintendo has revealed new pricing details for the upcoming Switch 2. The console will be available for purchase at $449.99, while the “Mario Kart World” Bundle will retail for $499.99. For those interested in the bundle, they can save $30 on their total cost by purchasing it, since “Mario Kart World” will be priced individually at $79.99.
Mario Kart World is simply one of numerous games confirmed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Among them is the newest addition to the popular DK series, titled Donkey Kong Bonanza. Unfortunately, the video does not demonstrate actual gameplay, as this might involve gaining access to an unpublished game and, allegedly, stealing the console itself. Whether the video is genuine or not remains uncertain; however, if it proves accurate, undoubtedly there will be some envious Nintendo fans.
