As reported by Nintendo of America’s Vice President of Player and Product Experience, Bill Trinen, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will not feature achievement rewards.
When discussing with Polygon, Trinen was directly questioned whether the Nintendo Switch 2 would incorporate a specific feature in its games for the first time. Trinen responded with a clear and decisive single word.
“Nope,” he said.
Anticipation for accomplishments arose once it became known that both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom would incorporate them. Notably, these achievements would be monitored via the Nintendo Switch app rather than the console itself, but they are indeed present.

Though Nintendo’s new system doesn’t feature the specific function, third-party developers like EA can incorporate it within their own systems. For instance, EA could offer achievements for Madden 26 or EA Sports FC linked to an EA Account. However, players of Switch 2 won’t be able to display these features directly from the console itself.
The anticipated release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 is June 5, 2025. Pre-order opportunities for this system are planned globally starting from April 8/9, except in the United States due to recently enacted tariffs by the government, causing Nintendo to postpone pre-orders within the country.
