Nintendo Switch Exclusive Coming to PlayStation on October 9

ININ Games announced that The Legend of Steel Empire will be available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 starting October 9th. This marks the game’s arrival on PlayStation almost two years after it was first released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.

Originally released in 1992 for the Sega Genesis, *Steel Empire* was a fast-paced arcade shooter created by Japanese studio HOT・B. It’s since been updated for several platforms, including the Game Boy Advance (2004), 3DS (2014), and PC (2018). In early 2024, ININ Games released a revamped version for the Nintendo Switch called *The Legend of Steel Empire*. While built on the 2018 PC version, this new edition features enough substantial changes and improvements to be considered a completely new game.

The Legend of Steel Empire Coming to PlayStation

After being available on Nintendo Switch for almost two years, *The Legend of Steel Empire* is coming to PlayStation. The game will launch on PS4 and PS5 on October 9th. Publisher ININ Games announced that this new version features enhanced HD graphics, updated controls, and a dynamic leveling system – all features players have already enjoyed on the Switch.

The upcoming release will bring *Steel Empire* to PlayStation consoles for the very first time. A key new feature in this updated version is a leveling system. It’s designed to reward players as they improve, and to provide a greater challenge for those already familiar with the original game. As players collect more items and become more powerful, the enemies they face will also get tougher and appear in larger numbers, becoming more difficult to defeat.

Difficulty scaling is often debated in role-playing games, but it works really well in an arcade shooter like *Steel Empire*. This game is meant to constantly get more challenging, and the scaling adds a smart, refreshing element without creating major problems. The updated version keeps the original’s seven levels and tells a story about a brutal dictatorship that has enslaved humanity, presented like an old war movie.

ININ Games hasn’t announced the price for the PlayStation version yet, but it will likely cost $24.99, similar to the Nintendo Switch version. It’s currently unknown if *The Legend of Steel Empire* will be released on other consoles like Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S.
