Nintendo Switch Online members now have four more classic games to play! Nintendo recently added two Game Boy titles – Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters and Bionic Commando – and two NES games – Ninja Gaiden 2: The Dark Sword of Chaos and Battletoads – to their Nintendo Switch Online apps.
Nintendo Switch Online subscribers get access to classic games through special apps. Recently, Luigi’s Mansion for the GameCube was added on October 30th. But to play GameCube games, you need a Nintendo Switch console, an active Nintendo Switch Online membership, and the Expansion Pack upgrade, which costs $50 per year. If you have the standard $20-per-year Nintendo Switch Online membership, you can still download apps for NES, SNES, and Game Boy and play the classic games added to those services regularly.
Just over a month after adding some classic SNES games, Nintendo surprised its Switch Online subscribers with four more titles. This time, the only game Nintendo developed themselves was Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters for the Game Boy. This game continued the story of the original Kid Icarus on the NES, and it would be the last game in the series for nearly two decades, until Kid Icarus: Uprising came out on the 3DS in 2011.
Two classic Capcom and Nintendo games have been added to the Nintendo Switch Online library. Game Boy owners can now enjoy Bionic Commando, a fast-paced action platformer, alongside Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters. For NES fans, Ninja Gaiden 2: The Dark Sword of Chaos and Battletoads are also available. Battletoads, created by Rare, is well-known for being a particularly challenging game.

What Game Boy or NES Games Could Still Drop on Switch Online?
The Nintendo Switch Online service is lacking some popular RPGs from the NES and Game Boy. Fans would be thrilled to see classic titles like the original Final Fantasy for NES and the first two Pokemon generations for Game Boy added to the service. It’s still unknown what Nintendo has in store for Switch Online subscribers in the future.
