Sean Murray has dropped a statement about the new update, which you can check out, below:

In simple terms, No Man’s Sky is a game that we genuinely and deeply adore. Last year, we debuted Worlds Part I, which felt like just the start to us. We can hardly wait to reveal what we’ve been developing! There are new solar systems, diverse planets, varying terrain types, even massive Gas Giants, and of course, fresh adventures. The next chapter in this journey is called Worlds Part II.

Worlds Part II allows us to push the boundaries of our engine with new technology.

Expanding our cosmic horizons, we’re uncovering billions of fresh solar systems and trillions of planets, enriching them with diverse biomes and terrains. Yet, the essence that players cherish remains unaltered. We’ve surpassed what we initially imagined when we embarked on this journey.

For some time now, I’ve been developing an intricate and diverse terrain system. The landscapes are now characterized by towering mountains and expansive landmarks. I find immense joy in working on projects like this.

Our team is incredibly swamped working on Project Light No Fire. Despite constantly venturing into uncharted territories with our technology, there’s a strong desire within us to involve the community in this journey – that’s No Man’s Sky.

Giant planets like Jupiter and Saturn are mind-boggling in their size; they’re approximately ten times larger than Earth, our largest planet. The thrill of delving into these colossal worlds is almost indescribable, as massive tempests sweep across their surfaces.

Modern technology enables exploration of oceans stretching multiple kilometers in depth, and a novel lighting system transforms their appearance dramatically. The emergence of new caustics and light shafts creates an intriguing sight, with the deeper you delve, the more enveloped you become in darkness. Occasionally, while investigating, I’ve experienced moments when suddenly a massive marine creature appears before me, leaving me awestruck by its sheer scale and beauty.

All aspects of our illumination have undergone a refreshing update. Shadows reveal intricate details, beams dance through foliage, caverns exude a captivating sense of depth, while oceans mirror both clouds and stars to bring forth breathtaking sunsets and celestial nights.

Water interacts with its surrounding environment physically. Creatures navigate through it, and it exhibits small indentations during rainfall, while large waves form under ships that appear to be flying overhead. Occasionally, there are instances when a ship seems to pass swiftly over a calm sea, causing the water beneath to ripple gently, creating a tranquil scene that is delightful to observe.

In both the ocean’s depths and on land, there are new beings to explore. It seems we’ve delved into realms of strangeness perhaps more so than ever before. The sensation you get when setting foot on a planet, where technology merges to evoke the unique emotion of knowing that no one has stepped here before, is what truly sets this game apart as something extraordinary.

Not only is there an abundance of fresh gameplay, but there’s also an extensive quest that binds together various elements we’ve been developing for years. Additionally, we offer an expedition that guides you through all the newly created worlds, and it comes with some astonishing incentives.

We’ve been operating for nine years now following our debut, and it seems we’re accomplishing feats that the community may not have anticipated. Frankly, I’m eager for everyone to experience what we’ve created!

Thank you ever so much for your support. It means so much to me and the team.

If that wasn’t enough, we’ve also got a deep dive video you can check out below, too.
