In recent days, No Man’s Sky has seen a remarkable surge in popularity on Steam, with its recent anniversary update playing a significant role. This resurgence marks levels of success the game hasn’t experienced for quite some time.
First launched back in 2016, No Man’s Sky initially faced some challenges upon its release. However, over the subsequent years, it has proven to be one of the most impressive turnarounds in the gaming world, thanks to numerous free updates.
Since the release of the latest update, known as the Anniversary Update, on August 28th, there’s been a significant surge in the number of players on Steam.
No Man’s Sky Hits Highest Peak Since Launch
On September 1st, as per SteamDB’s data, No Man’s Sky recorded its highest number of simultaneous players – a total of 98,285 – since the game first launched nine years ago.
The current numbers are slightly higher than the peak achieved in July 2018 after the release, which had approximately 97,000 simultaneous players. However, they have now surpassed this figure, establishing a new record for the highest number of concurrent players following the launch.
Despite not yet reaching the initial peak of approximately 212,000 players on Steam, the hard work put in by Hello Games is evident as players continue to be attracted to the expansive space odyssey, demonstrating an ongoing interest in the game.
The indications appear quite favorable for Hello Games before the launch of their upcoming game, Light No Fire.
The sixth most popular game on Steam’s wishlist, according to SteamDB, is Light No Fire. It trails only behind Hollow Knight: Silksong, Subnautica 2, Deadlock, Borderlands 4, and Battlefield 6 in terms of wishlists.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m super excited about the upcoming game releases! If the hype is anything to go by, it looks like my favorite game, Light No Fire, might climb even higher on those gaming charts in the next few months. Can’t wait to see how it unfolds!
